Lowell to Houston. That would be a pretty good deal if either Berkmen has injury plagued seasons and then they platoon it with Blum and Lowell.

The Astros are already paying an awful lot of money to Berkman, Feliz and Blum for the corner infield spots. Unless Boston is essentially willing to hand over Lowell for free, I don’t really see Houston as a fit.
Then again, Houston does a lot of weird things, so, yeah..
Jack
They would only due it if Berkman can’t recover from his injury. They wouldn’t make a move with blum and keppinger on the bench. Besides their outfield they are set.

I could see the Sox trading for him if Teahen really bombs. But not as a DH or first baseman.

Maybe they returned Jimenez as a part of a trade?
mrjjbond
No, if it were part of a trade, the Sox would not have paid $25K

Thank you! Even if his numbers were a little lower than what they are, youKNOW he’s going to produce them. He is a model of consistency. His defensive limitations are apparent but he plays in the second smallest left field in baseball and next to the second fastest player in baseball. So he’s more or less got his butt covered. But, if you watch enough Astros games, he’ll pull a trick out and surprise you with a diving or a sliding catch to put an inning away. $18.5 million, yeah, I’d do it again.

I don’t want the Twins to go after Lowell. If there was some way to guarantee he’d be healthy then I’m all for it. That’s not something you can do though.
Eric B
he’d be all right..he’d give about 110-120 games playing at Third and a few at First, and a few more at DH

If he’s fully healthy, yes. He’s only been able to do 110-120 total the last two seasons. With Thome on the bench without a position, the Twins would be extremely handcuffed if Lowell didn’t play 140-150 games.
It’s why they haven’t re-signed Crede on the cheap again. It’s not that they didn’t like Crede, he provided great defense and some pop, but he was out with little stupid nagging injuries that weren’t DL worthy. Then he had the big one at the end and never played the rest of the season. He made it 90 games, but for a lot of games it was like playing with a 24 man roster. With Thome on the bench it’d be like playing with a 23 man roster.
The Twins can’t afford that at all. It’d have to be a guarantee, and for any player, it’s not a guarantee. It’s a much bigger risk because of Lowell’s age.
