The Yankees need to add a pitcher before the deadline, but there aren’t any pitchers that are on waivers that would really be better than any pitcher that they have now
Dave_Gershman
I really really hate to say this, but maybe the Yankees should give Jarrod Washburn a ring.
Al Briggs
by the time he’d be ready to pitch it’d be mid-late september…
Dave_Gershman
Well if they add him to the 25-Man tomorow or the next day (which I know won’t happen) they could DL him, get him to GMSF, and bring him back for the Rays series.
Al Briggs
id rather focus more on getting the pitchers in the rotation right.
Dave_Gershman
Well they’ve been trying to do that for quite some time and that hasn’t worked obviously. So they have to look outside.

Ivan Nova has made 2 good starts so far for the Yanks, and he could very well pitch his way on to the postseason roster. He’s been good down in Triple A all year.
And a big hell not to Washburn. He got himself lit up while pitching in Comerica Park. While it surprising does favor hitters according to the park factors, it doesn’t favor hitters nearly as much as Yankee Stadium. Just…no, no thanks.
Al Briggs
no, they dont have to look outside.

That sounds legal.

If he is on the DL, would he still be eligible for the Post-Season Roster?

Rays are totally fine with there farm system
Dave_Gershman
not at 1B. Matt Sweeney is nowhere near ready.
Al Briggs
Heyman is the Captain Obvious of the “insiders”. Thanks, Jon!

Why does the title of this post say Diamondbacks? They aren’t mentioned one time…
Ian_Smell
They’ve been mentioned in the news so little lately, that they thought it would be nice to mention them here.
YanksFanSince78
They were mentioned in the article and Kevin Towers and Oppenheimer were mentioned as possible canidates for the job.
“The Padres’ incredible year enhances Kevin Towers’ GM candidacy even though he’s no longer there, and some execs can see the D-backs going that way. Interim GM Jerry Di Poto did a nice job at the trade deadline, and Yankees’ scouting director Damon Oppenheimer would make a fine choice, as well, among the known candidates”.

I for one am a little nervous about the Yanks rotation. Both because of it’s unsteadiness behind Sabathia and because our offense isn’t as consistantly strong like it use to be. I think (and hope) that AJ will get himself right. Out of his last 10 games he’s had 6 quality starts. In his last game, despite giving up 8 runs he was as bad as he looked. He didn’t give up any HRS and of his 8 hits (2 dbls and 6 singles) most of them were ground balls that simply found there way thru the infield. What worries me worst if his psyche. Can he bounce back and pitch well enough down the stretch. The offense just can’t afford to be down 5-0 by the 2nd evening.
