Yankees Sign Bill Hall

3:24pm: Hall will earn a base salary of $600K in the Major Leagues and can earn more incentives based on plate appearances, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports tweets.  Hall can opt out of his deal if he isn't on the Major League roster on April 4th.

2:51pm: The Yankees have signed utility infielder Bill Hall, based on his tweet, "IT'S OFFICIAL IM A YANKEE!!!!!!!! #IwannaRing!!!!"  He signed a minor league deal, tweets Erik Boland of Newsday.  Hall is a client of Gaylord Sports Management.

Hall, 32, posted a .211/.261/.314 line in 199 plate appearances for the Astros and Giants last year, playing mostly second base.  In more of a utility role for the 2010 Red Sox, Hall managed 18 home runs in 382 plate appearances.  Hall works out with Yankees hitting coach Kevin Long during the offseason.

If Bill Hall wants a ring, several stores are having their Valentines sales. Yanks will cut him before April.

    • Yanks never cut anybody.  He’ll sit around on the bench or in AAA and then will spark them whenever the evil empire needs it, in some way, some how….  Man I loathe them. Haha

It’ll be pretty funny if Hall doesn’t make the team out of ST

Arsenio Hall has a better chance of making the team than Bill Hall…

Hall’s reaction puts most girls reactions to their sweet 16th birthday to shame.

Who would follow Bill Hall on Twitter and why?

  6. Karkat 3 years ago

Always kind of nice to see some players still getting as excited as a 12 year old on his little league team xD
    (Actually a legitimate comment)

  7. Who needs the media when we can get news from the Official Twitter?!

  8. This guy will even pitch if you let him.

Hall WILL make the team. I would guess the Yankees’ bench is complete:
    Andruw Jones, Cervelli, Hall, Nunez

Now they need to find a DH and their off-season is complete.

  10. Should say #IwannaMakeTheTeam…

Hall’s hitting weakness has been exposed in that Google ad…he won’t last long.

    well, he’s technically a yankee. a scranton/wilkes-barre yankee. but a yankee nonetheless.

  14. Negative WAR 2 out of the past 3 seasons. -1.6 WAR last season. Poor on-base skills.

  15. So if i tweet that im a yankee does that mean im on the yankees too?

  17. I’d boo him in his Fenway return, but I just don’t care.

    • notsureifsrs 3 years ago

why? he was effective for boston

      • He was just a warm body. His best defense came in the 1 inning he pitched! That’s not good.

        • notsureifsrs 3 years ago

your expectations for backup players are unrealistic

          • No way. I SAID I wouldn’t boo him! Also, he unfortunately played half a season in 2010. Perhaps that Boston spotlight was biased for a career bench player

Guys, relax. He was just retweeting Colon’s “#IWANNARINGDING” but ran out of characters.

  19. stroh 3 years ago

He just seemed to be lost at the plate last year with both the Astros and Giants.   Maybe he has something left in the tank, but based on last year I doubt it.   Having said that he did have a good 2010 with the Red Sox.   50/50 shot.

The yankees are looking to add a lefty bat?  You’re doing it right.

  21. baybombers 3 years ago

its not guaranteed hes gonna make the team? and hes celebrating? alright then

  22. Metsfan1027 3 years ago

Well I guess the yankees picked up a win on mothers day.  They should call Kaz Matsui and see how he feels about an opening day contract

What does reading a book have to do with scripted fighting?  And everything?  Really?  Reallllly?

  24. Jason_F 3 years ago

First off, calling names will get your comment removed, quick-like.  Second, fake = planned.  It is reality show trash masquerading as a sport.  Calling someone the best in the world in wrestling is akin to awarding a Most Valuable Kardashian trophy to one of those attention-craving divas.

  25. notsureifsrs 3 years ago

oh, i understand now. it’s because you’re one of these people. unfortunate

  26. levendis 3 years ago

its scripted but the injuries these guys get are 100% real. Cant really fake flying off the top turnbuckle head first. These guys are in great physical shape. Sure they take roids, buts it more for recovery than anything. These guys go out there and tax their bodies every single day. I dont watch it anymore, but it was great while i lasted. I now watch UFC instead 😀

  27. You mean a smart person? Why, yes, I am a Red Sox fan!

  28. Yankees420 3 years ago

If everyone was as level headed and logical as you notsureifsrs, then you wouldn’t stand out as much…..

  29. Jason_F 3 years ago

I don’t doubt their injuries, the shape that they are in and the pounding their bodies take.  However, I would bet that any of these guys would gladly trade all of it for a roster spot in the NFL or whatever real sport they had aspirations of making it in.

I like my sports with actual competition minus the predetermined outcome.

When my brother and I fought growing up, all the bumps ad bruises were real, but it was never real fighting.  Maybe it was to him, but not for me.  Snot nosed little punk…

  31. YanksFanSince78 3 years ago

A smart person would’ve noticed that he IS a Red Sox fan and that he’s looking down on you with pity.

Hall should be a decent bench player. That’s all that’s needed. Nunez would probably be the everyday 3b if Arod hits the DL. Nothing to see here skippy. Move along.

  32. A smart person would have a sense of humor, but you’re one of them, so you have to be a tough guy!

  33. levendis 3 years ago

yepp i totally agree, im not saying its a sport, but to say these guys dont get injured is ridiculous, alot of it is real

  34. levendis 3 years ago

i never said its real fighting, its entertainment, im just saying the injuries are real, just like your brothers lmaoo

  35. Jason_F 3 years ago

I never said that they don’t get injured.
