Orioles To Sign David Riske

By Ben Nicholson-Smith | February 7, 2011 at 3:43pm CDT

The Orioles agreed to sign David Riske to a minor league deal, CAA, his agency, announced on Twitter. Orioles president of baseball operations Andy MacPhail, who has already re-signed Koji Uehara and Mark Hendrickson and signed Jeremy Accardo and Kevin Gregg, continues to add relievers.

Last year Riske returned from 2009 Tommy John surgery to appear in 23 games for the Brewers, before Milwaukee released him. The 34-year-old fly ball pitcher struck out 16 batters and walked 8 in 23 1/3 innings, posting a 5.01 ERA.

Len Kasper had way too much fun with that when Riske was with the Brewers.

Nice minor league deal. Who knows, maybe he’ll be a valuable BP arm for the O’s.

Way too many BP pitchers for the Orioles …..

I mean come on you have 3 closers on the team.

Don’t forget about Hendrickson, and Johnson.

Going to be a log jam in the BP

Im glad hes not on the Brewers anymore because he was terrible and overpaid, but it will be sad to lose his joke potential: Should I try to make it home with the gas directly on Empty? I dunno, that is kinda David. Going for it on 4th here is a high David/High Reward move. I think I will try to pull a Mrs Doubtfire and go on 2 dates with different girls at the same restaurant at the same time and keep telling them I have to go the bathroom at 15 minute intervals? That may be a little too David.
