Lugo > < Duran.
Duran for Duran is a horrible idea for the twins
The Twins? Seriously? Jarren Duran for a relief pitcher is idiocy. But it’s something Craig Brain-slow would probably do.
let – They must have misspelled “Joe” by typing “Jhoan” instead.
Because there’s no way Duran is going to Minnesota for anyone other than Joe Ryan.
Just because Breslow has already given away Priester, Sale, and Devers (another 3 hits and 2 HR today) doesn’t mean he’s gonna give away Duran as well.
I really want the sox to go after Mackenzie Gore. I think the fit is perfect. His prime aligns with our cores age. He’s a #3-4 already, with an Ace ceiling. Crochet and Gore would be a great 1-2 punch. And he’s under control for a couple more years. Hes gonna cost a good bit but nothing crazy. I feel like Arias, password, and a couple high ceiling young guys gets it done considering where washingtons roster is currently at.
Fever- I question whether the Sox will even make a big move. Gio looked far too hittable with his 4 homers today. If it wasn’t for the bullpen and some solid offense we would have lost another close game. We need to win more than one game per series against the strong teams or we are not going to stay in contention. I am guessing some smaller moves are more likely so they can say they did something.
I agree that Duran is only getting traded for an impact player like Ryan. Breslow is going to look incompetent if he makes a bad trade now, and he knows it. He doesn’t want to upset the fan base again.
I am afraid the cost would be too high for a young impact pitcher who can slot in behind Crochet, assuming there is even someone like that available. If they are going to bring in some rentals, I hope they don’t overpay for them. So many teams need pitching that it won’t come cheap.
Uncle – There’s only one reason they won.
5th inning, bases loaded, 2 outs, easy foul pop-up behind home plate, all of the Phillies closest to the ball lose sight of it, ball drops, Luzardo gets so rattled by it that he immediately gives up consecutive bases-loaded walks, Thomson is frozen by the chain of events so much that he doesn’t get a reliever warming in the pen, leaving a rattled Luzardo to face lefty-killer Romy and give up the inevitable grand slam meatball.
If the easy pop-up was caught, Sox lose 6-0.
As for Gio, we had to expect some regression but I wouldn’t write him off after one bad start.
The way the AL is now, all the Sox need to do is win 85 or so games which means basically play around .500 the rest of the way. I think Breslow will acquire mediocre talent without giving up much in the way of prospects. Because there’s so many teams still in contention, competition for the few impact players available will be fierce.
I think Breslow goes out and gets a rental starter. I don’t think they make a big splash and I agree it’s going to be heavy sellers market. I always thought if Boston competed this season then it was found money. I had 2026 as the season where there window starts to open up. I can see one of Duran or Abreu moved in the off-season. I just find it hard to believe that they will get the real value of either during the season. I’m hoping they don’t go after Mitch Keller he’s fools gold imo. Lots of pitching coming from AA on down I expect next years AAA rotation to be loaded with future big league pitchers.
Fever- I put on the game after that play but saw it in the highlights. That one was gifted to us. I hope Gio rebounds. I should be more optimistic. I agree the cost is going to be too high for the high end players. Would be nice if those mediocre players can help keep us in the running. The next few series will be telling.
I think they are doing a better job gathering young pitching talent. Hopefully some of it really pans out. They could use a homegrown ace.
Uncle – Yes it was Divine Intervention! LOL!!
I also think they are playing the Dodgers at the perfect time, I expect the Sox to win the weekend series.
Uncle – Yes, without question they have been focusing more on developing pitching than Bloom did. Time will tell, but it usually takes a few years.
Fever- I would love to see them win the Dodgers series. That would definitely build positive momentum.
Fever- What are your feelings on Alcantara? He had a solid outing yesterday. If they could get him back to pre-Tommy John surgery form, he could have a huge impact on the rotation. Maybe Bailey could figure out the issue, as he has been given a lot of credit for getting Chapman’s strikeout to walk ratio where it has been this year. Would not mind them tying up Chapman for a couple more years.
The integrity of the sport is of outmost important. I wish baseball writers demanded more from these owners, players and pencil pushers like Manfred and Tony Clark. The MLBPA, MLB, and the teams who hold cities hostage for tax funds need to be held accountable. When a rocket scientist discovers different baseballs being used and Manfred gets caught lying about it, baseball needs some changes because smart fans can tell the whol;e systems needs fixing,
Anthony’s lack of knowledge of bands with repeated names is alarming. In next weeks episode under Darragh’s harsh questioning, it will be revealed that Anthony has never heard of Mr. Mister.
