Newspaper Blogs

Baseball beat writers blogging is all the rage these days, and I love it.  It's great that these guys can post news the second they get it without editors and that most of them engage in lively conversation with fans in the comments.

I thought it would be cool to compile a list here of all the newspaper columnist blogs that are updated regularly.  Here are a few; I will update the post with more as we come up with them.

On The Yankees Beat - by Jim Baumbach of Newsday

The LoHud Yankees Blog - by Peter Abraham of the Lower Hudson Journal News

Cleveland Plain Dealer Blog - by Paul Hoynes

Extra Bases Red Sox Blog - by various Boston Globe writers

Surfing the Mets - by Adam Rubin of the New York Daily News

Roch Around The Clock - by Roch Kubatko of the Baltimore Sun

BravesBlog - by David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution

Mariners Weblog - by John Hickey of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer

The Heater (Devil Rays) - by Marc Topkin of St. Petersburg Times

Pete at the Journal News does a quality job on his blog. I approve.

My uncle is an editor for the Baltimore Sun and a large part of his job is editing blogs. They are not edited as in depth as an article is, but they are still edited.

Kevin Baxter of the Herald has something like that. If you want the link can post it if not no biggie

Yeah post that Baxter link...

I'm a fan of Hoynes. Speaking of, his blog mentions the hiring of Buck Showalter as a special assistant to Shapiro. Probably one of the reasons we went after Dellucci. I wouldn't be amazed if the Indians made some kind of trade involving another former Showalter player. Something to keep an eye out for.

Roch Kubatko has a nice Orioles blog on the Baltimore Sun website.

Braves Blog by David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution is always lively.

It's not unusual for one of his posts to get several hundred comments, and DOB mixes it up with the commenters. He also writes about Americana music along with his baseball.

There is the Kevin Baxter one.

I will look in the Post and Sunsentinel down here as well. I could of sworn the Sun had one but I think it is just of Mike Jacobs or Josh Willingham instead.

Marc Lancaster does a fine job keeping Reds fans in tune with the goings on in Cincy.

Richard Justice @ the Houston chronicle does a good job of covering the Atsros on his blog.

Don't forget about all the beat writers for teams who blog on mlblogs.com like T.R. Sullivan (Tex), Matthew Leach (StL), Mark Feinsand (NYY), Ian Browne (BOS), etc.
