Nats Not Interested In Trachsel

Apparently Steve Trachsel has priced himself out of the Nationals' range ($3 million is too much I guess).  Washington is not one of the three teams in the running for him, according to Bill Ladson.

A few days ago, Ken Rosenthal reported that the Astros were talking to Trax but that Tim Purpura did not consider it hot and heavy.  The Twins are out now too.  So who are these two other teams?

Trachsel was born in Oxnard, CA, so maybe he'd like to play on the west coast.  The Dodgers and Angels would be closest to his hometown, but those teams have fully booked rotations.  The Padres, Giants, and A's are further away.  I wouldn't put it past the Giants to sign Trachsel to use instead of Jonathan Sanchez.  Or maybe Trachsel could help as the veteran presence in Tampa Bay's rotation?  Perhaps some Kyle Davies insurance for the Braves?

Honestly, I have no idea who the other teams would be.

I realize he's not the greatest pitcher, but if you throw out the year where he had back surgery he's had 43 wins in his last 3 season, averaging about 190 innings. At market rates you'd think someone would grab a guy like that for 3m...that's less than mediocre middle relievers are getting.

Trax is too young for the Giants.

I agree, while Trachsel is not a great pitcher, he does give you 200 innings a year and for the most part can keep your team in the game. Most teams are just scared because his velocity dropped 4-5 mph since the back surgery. But even still, he is probably not much worse than some of the pitchers who got 8-10 mil a year.

I disagree, watching him throughout his met career he has relied on pin point control of his 89-90 mph fastball, a very good splitter, but especially his ability to paint the corners. He now is throwing 86-87 mph, is lacking control, and his splitter is flat. He is a meatball serving machine.

Is there something wrong with the site right now Roto? Im wondering if it just my computer, certain threads i click on( like the harang one) just bring me to this white screen with all the side links ( archives, recent posts, 2007 mlb free agents) but nothing in the middle. This post (Trachsel one) is completely normal though.
Anyone else having this problem?

If the Giants sign him, they'd get at least a guaranteed 1-2 wins out of the deal. That's because he wouldn't be pitching for another team and face the Giants twice next year. He turns into Koufax when he pitches against SF---a Koufax with an 85 mph fastball. He's 5-1 with a 1.80 ERA against SF over the past four years.
