Braves Acquire Royce Ring

Alright, blog service is back up.  Booyah.  As you may know, a bunch of southpaws were swapped today: the Braves got Royce Ring from the Padres for Will Startup and Wil Ledezma.

Should be nice to have Ring around in case things don't work out with Ron Mahay. Still, it would've been nice to see John Schuerholz come up with some kind of starter for the back end of the rotation.  Maybe in August.

Startup's been solid in Triple A, and the Padres might be able to coax some goodness out of the twice-traded Ledezma.

With so many decent lefties floating around at minimal cost, you have to wonder why a team would ever sign Mike Stanton.  But that's why they're GMs and I'm just a guy who blogs until he gets carpal tunnel.

ok lets get started..

Grow up GBS420. Oh wait, you have a childish reference to smoking marijuana in your name, you can't be more than 13.

Actually your wrong he is four hundred and twenty years old and is still angry that the Braves moved out of Boston.

How did you know??

Will Startup sounds fictitious.

Will Startup's dad, Will Not Close, designed software for Microsoft for a few years, then found his way into the Buc's pen.

I wish I could find a good Mets blog to read ...

from the article you just posted VIPRegan:

Ring, 26, appeared in 27 games for Portland (AAA) in 2007, going 4-0 with a 1.99 ERA, a .188 opponents' batting average and 44 strikeouts in 31.2 innings pitched. He also appeared in 15 games for the Padres this season and posted a 1-0 record with a 3.60 ERA and 17 strikeouts in 15.0 innings pitched.

Originally drafted and developed by the Chicago White Sox, Ring was traded to the New York Mets in 2003. He spent the 2004-2005 seasons with the Mets and appeared in 26 games, with a 3.47 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 23.1 innings.

boy, your article really proved that point. that guy cant get anyone out. i hope you catch my sarcasm. i'm throwing it in bucketloads. low era, good whip, and big K rate. yes, he's terrible.

The Mets might not even make the playoffs this year. I'm surprised Minaya didn't make a move other than Castillo, who really isn't that good anymore.
