Speaking of which... you really need to change this blog's style Tim.
The font's are small, text gets hard to read and strains eyes.
:D please!

i mentioned on the Royals boards last night how awesome an Igawa trade would be. a 4 million dollar 5th spot pitcher, that is easily replaced if falters. I'd be so on that, especially if a stronger japanese presence helped Kuroda decide.

"Abraham says there is a market for Kei Igawa."
...Yeah, there are plenty of Beer-leagues out there...
Not so sure enough ML teams would be interested to the point of creating a “market” though ~ well, unless the Yanks want nothing much more then for them to pay his contract...

The text size and fonts are fine, get some glasses oldtimer.

I wouldn't mind seeing what Igawa could do as the #5 in Petco. The Padres could handle that salary and maybe the Yankees would accept Terrmel Sledge in return. The Padres don't have much need for him and last I checked, the Yankees could use a left-handed bat off the bench.

It's looking more and more like Santana is staying put for now.
Not sure about this whole Kei Igawa thing, though. the Yanks have no raeson not to get rid of him, but out of those teams listed, I'm not sure who would actually still want the guy. He was considered by a few of them during the deadline, but now with room to breathe and make more careful decisions, why take him over some internal rookie? Maybe the Mets would take a shot at him as an injury fallback?

I like the idea of Igawa going too the Royals. He can't play any worse unless he gets hurt.

Igawa may have been awful last year, but its not like he's forgotten to pitch. If the Yanks were willing to just essentially dump his contract, someone would take that chance. It seems better than giving Kyle Lohse five years.

"If the Yanks were willing to just essentially dump his contract, someone would take that chance."
Exactly. If you’re willing to just give him to us we'll take him ~ but if you want us to pay up much more than his contract then forget it ~ I got AAA guys...
I like the Sledge idea from a SD standpoint ~ if the Yanks include Melky as a throw-in for Santana then Sledge could come in handy for them…

I'm guessing Cashman will look for either a decent reliever or a relief prospect, much like the Jaret Wright trade.

And we can rule out Sledge:
Terrmel Sledge is taking a two-year, $2.85 million contract to play in Japan with the Nippon Ham Fighters.

What about maybe Igawa for someone like Justin Germano?
Posted by: scribbletone | November 29, 2007 at 07:55 PM
Eh. We probably have him already in Jeff Karstens.

True, in that case, what sort of guy do you think the Yankees should try and get for Igawa

The Yankees need to resign Viscaino, obviously. Now Ron Mahay I say is ok. Mahay had carear numbers due to the fact he pitched in the NL. Hawkins sucks, but who I would like to see the Yankees get is David Riske. In my opinion he was and still is the best reliever from the start. Yes better than Mo and Liberneck (lets see how he pitches in the AL). Riske had a great year but look at his career ERA its 3.40 now this is in the toughest division in the MLB.
