Rumor Royalty: Jeff Zrebiec (Orioles)
Rumor Royalty is an MLBTR feature that honors the best journalist for each team in terms of hot stove material. The Newark Star-Ledger's Dan Graziano recently snagged the honor for the Yankees.
The choice for the Baltimore Orioles was really easy for me. The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec owns Orioles hot stove chatter; he gets all the scoops. Here's a link to the Sun's baseball page, where his work can be found. I asked Jeff three hot stove questions, which will be posted here separately over the next couple of days.

Zrebiec is not the Sun's best writer...You know that both Buster Olney and Ken Rosenthal are former Sun writers who started in Baltimore...and both still seem to spark up a disproportionate amount of rumors for losing Baltimore teams which might say something about their B'more roots...I do not believe Rosenthal writes currently for the Sun but Olney might have an occasional article...

Also as far as talking about real rumors I think every Baltimore fan will tell you that Roch Kubatko is the real source for a lot of rumors and has the intimate connection within the current organization...the guy has a personal relationship with pretty much every coach and official from the minors to the majors and since he writes a daily blog, the loose standards of blogdom loosens his need to confirm rumors that a legit journalist that Zrebiec is...I think pretty much most cases, by the time Zrebiec is writing about a rumor, it has already been mentioned by Roch and heavily discussed on the discussion boards associated with his blog...

for instance the most recent rumor sort of illustrates this...for the last week and a half, Roch's blog has mentioned the floating rumor of Oriole interest in Jose Guillen...where this rumor came from is unclear but Roch has mentioned based on his conversations with coaches and Andy MacPhail officials, they have never heard of it so he has been mentioning it as a possible rumor that started outside the org to ramp up interest in JG...in the last few days, Jeff Zrebiec has published confirmed quotes and reserched sources that this is pure fabrication...
...I'm not saying that Roch is 100% right all of the time...if you want percentages, Zrebiec is prolly the best at that...but we are talking about rumors...true or not, confirmed or not, comssummated or not, rumors are rumors...
