« Jamey Carroll Traded To Indians | Main | Rangers Like Patterson, Ethier, Hamilton, Fukudome »
Evan Grant says the Rangers are out of the bidding for Eric Gagne. Either he's getting a two-year deal somewhere or he's accepting Boston's offer of arbitration. Or, his one-year demand is just too high. We should know soon.

he was brutal with Boston and wont close. Why would he accept arbitration. im not debating you 04 ive heard it a number of times but it just doesnt make sense to me. id rather the Sox get a pick or 2 for him

Honestly, even if he accepts arbitration, wouldn't it make sense for the Sox to try and trade him? He didn't do much to help them down the stretch and I think they have his potential replacement in Delcarmen.

exactly tolo316, we only benefit either way. he he doesnt accept, we get the compensation pick, if he does and we keep him, hes eric gagne, we need to give him another chance, or, we trade him for a package that we had to give up for him. we win either way

The fan base hates him, and he had 19 terrible innings in Boston but its not a bad thing to have Eric Gagne on your roster. It might be a bad thing to trade Gabbard, Murphy and Engel Beltre for him but he is still a good RP.

besides, of course he accepted arbitration, i find it weird that the rangers, the team that saved his career and has players that love him and loves back, to be out of the running for him on the day the arbitration is to be decided unless he accepted. look at it in this point of view, what if he goes back to old school game over? that wouldnt suck

i dont hate gagne, i just cant figure him out. his case was so odd that im more like wtf happened to you more then holy crap, i hate you as much as i hate the yankees, are you sure they arent paying you to tank on purpose?
players at this caliber are always good to have on your team, no matter how bad they were, if all else fails, somebody would take him off our hands for a pretty penny

I don't hate him either, but losing Engel Beltre is painful. He is a special talent.
If nothing comes from the Santana talks, and a Crisp/Gagne trade brings back Beltre/Teagarden+ all will be right with the world.

There is no chance in hell. LOL I don't think the Rangers would do Teagarden alone for Crisp, much less throw in Beltre + more for him and Gagne...They don't need bullpen arms that badly.
