« D'Backs, Angels, Mets, Rays, A's Unlikely To Make Trades | Main | White Sox Interested In Joel Hanrahan »
2:28pm: Joel Sherman says the Mets have an outside chance of snagging Ayala, a Minaya favorite.
1:12pm: According to Jon Heyman of SI.com, the Mets are discussing reliever Luis Ayala with the Nationals. Omar Minaya "badly wants a reliever."
The 30 year-old carries a 5.54 ERA in 50.1 innings, though he's pitched better than that.

Wasn't he just demoted to mop up duty?

OH GOD PLEASE TAKE AYALA OFF OF OUR HANDS!
In his defense, he never put up an ERA over 3.19 before this year. But he's just not the same this year, and looks completely lost.

wouldn't a starter make more sense for them? I'm STILL surprised Omar was dumb enough to rely on Pedro & El'Duque and not sign Loshe/Silva.

I am surprised that you were dumb enough to post some stupid crap before verifying whether or not it was even accurate. Oh, actually, I'm not. Sorry. Relying on El Duque? Really? The piece of crap Yankee rotation could use Lohse/Silva about 20 times more then the Mets rotation could my friend. Keep thinking your team has a good rotation and that Moose will keep it up, Pettitte won't go down like he always does, and Rasner and Ponson will help you win. The Yankees have one good pitcher. The Mets have by far the best rotation in their division.

So the Mets aren't going to get an OF or reliever???
Way to go Omar, you delusional idiot...
Posted by: Hyro | July 31, 2008 at 02:35 PM
Its funny that somebody as stupid and un-informed as Hyro could call anybody else an idiot. He was one of the morons saying the season was over in early June. What can you do, there are stupid, knee jerk, fairweather idiot Met fans everywhere. Hyro is just a perfect example.

You do realize that Pettitte has made less than 30 starts in a season only twice since his rookie season, correct?
Posted by: yclept | July 31, 2008 at 02:46 PM
Just the fact that you want to give up value for a reliever shows that you are an idiot. That is the stupidest thing you can do in a baseball trade, is trade value for a reliever. They are everywhere. Just go find one, instead of lazily paying a huge price for one, who you don't even know for a fact will contribute for you. Non-Closer RP's are inconsistent. Thats why they are not starters or closers. You never know if they are going to be any good over a period of time, but all these idiots just want to go out and pay a shitloadd for a guy like Street or Fuentes or Sherrill. No thank you. I would rather call up Eddie Kunz, and then look for a guy after the non waiver deadline in august.

Pettitte always comes down with some nagging elbow injury that causes him to miss a few starts, or just be less effective. I notice you gave me no argument on the other 60 percent of your rotation, however. Even is Pettitte performs as a number 2 the rest of the reason, that still leaves you with 3 gigantic questionmarks. Can Moose kkeep it up through september? Rasner and Ponson are just horrendous, there is no denying that, so what say you about the rest of their rotation? Playoff worthy? I think not. But hey, I forgot, you guys have IPK the savior coming back. Consider your world series tickets punched.

man everyone is either n idot or a moron. Just chill. I don't think it's a major insult to say them mets should have signed lohse. A starter and a left fielder would have been very nice for NY. Oh and while the yankees rotation is not elite I'm sorry I'd take it over the mets.

Not everyone, but definitely hyro. He is just a fairweather fan, starting to think he is probably a troll. If you think the Yankees have a better rotation then the Mets, you are a clown too. But you are a Braves fan, so I dont take your opinion very seriously either.
