Prospect Happ to the Pirates for left-reliever Grabow?

Happ for Grabow makes a lot of sense for both teams.

Verducci's absolutely right on Manny - which is exactly why Manny's trying to force the issue, to get out of that $20M option for '09. He wants in on the thinner LF market this offseason, rather than the 25-car pileup awaiting him in '09 (when Manny will also be a year older and thus less likely to get a big long-term deal).

The Angels really should sell on Wood now, as he is having his typical excellent year in the minors. There isn't a place for him at SS or 3B and I don't think his bat plays at this level.

Wood could easily benefit from playing somewhere he would not be expected to perform right away. A place like Baltimore, or even Atlanta now that they plan on selling and rebuilding. He could play 3B with Chipper extending his career over at 1B. Now, I think that Wood + Quinlan idea was never a real thing and would be a coup on the part of Tony Reagins, but I do think a Wood + Adenhart deal, if everyone thinks rationally about it, would be a good deal to get Tex.

I agree AA, but since we have Kotch, do you think that Tex. would switch back over to third and put Figgins back in the super-sub role?

The primary target at the deadline should no way be a lefty reliever for the Phils. They want to "give [Romero] some breathing room" but the bullpen's been absolutely fantastic this year; fantastic enough to the point where they should be completely confident to give JC a day off here and
there.

I don't want to see Happ go for a damned lefty.

Tex, Ohman, Kotsay and who would be the other three?

GOnzalez has been mentioned but was said to be off limits. i am all for blowing it up and building around solid pitching again.

the run was great while it lasted, lets hope we can at least contend for wild card next year
