Why would the Rangers owner sell the team? they are finally getting decent and have a nice young team to build around once they get an extension worked out with Hamilton.

I mean....he'd be great with the Dodgers. They could use a man with his skills. He's great.

Not necessarily doubting he has the money, but how does Nolan Ryan have the money to buy the Rangers? He probably got paid less in his career than Manny Ramirez did in the last two or three years. Has he been selling a lot of cars in the Austin area? Opened a chain of barbecue houses in Fort-Worth?

Ryan owns a very successful beef company and has made a lot of money on the oil market.

Isn't Ryan also involved in banking?

You left out my favorite part:
Heyman-"Saw a headline the other today in an NY paper: "Pavano Solid.'' And I can't think of any bigger waste of space. To learn what Pavano's about, read John Feinstein's interesting book Living on the Black, about Mike Mussina and Tom Glavine. In one story, when Mussina was offered slightly less than $10 million a year in a new contract by the Yankees, he told Cashman, "I can't be paid less than Pavano,'' or words to that effect, and Cashman understood completely. Mussina was then paid $11.5 million a year, or slightly more than the sedentary Pavano."

Also, Nolan Ryan owns two of the most successful minor league teams in the country. The Round Rock Express have averaged over 10,000 fans per games for years. The strange thing is that he had a personal service contract with the lastros and owns their AA and AAA franchises.

I'm sure Nolan Ryan would have partners in the purchase, if it ever occured.
However, I'd be thrilled if he bought the Disastros, and fired everyone in the front office (except for Bags). D-Mac is becoming unbearable.

Nolan - please buy the Rangers!!!!! Hicks won't sell because he is still making money though unfortunately. And Hicks has a lot invested into the Glory Park area that is going to be between Rangers Ballpark and the new Cowboys Stadium.
BTW, Nolan has partners in ownership in Round Rock (Ryan-Sanders Baseball) which is comprised of several people, not just Nolan. My guess is that if he ever were to buy the Rangers, it would be his little firm thing, not just him individually. However, he would still act as principal owner.
