The Blue Jays have announced the acquisition of Jose Bautista from the Pirates for a player to be named later.
Bautista is making $1.8MM this season, his first of arbitration eligibility. He signed a one year deal last winter, avoiding arbitration. Bautista was hitting .242/.325/.404 in 107 games for the Pirates, very close to his career marks of .240/.328/.397. Nothing amazing, but a decent pickup for a team with some question marks in the infield next year.

Beautiful move by the Blue Jays. Creates depth, and Bautista could snag a starting 3B job right now on some teams.

and that's pretty good for a utility player.

Great to see the Blue Jays continue to pick up the dregs of NL Central players.
5 bucks says they go for Corey Patterson next!

When Jose gets into one they're no-doubters. His defense last season was outstanding, but dropped a little all the way around this year. Good guy to come off the bench and can add depth. At least the Bucs get a throw-away prospect from the deal rather than just letting Jose walk after the year.
Now, any takers for that bum Ronnie Paulino?

The poster child of inconsistency. There are times that he plays like an all-star, while at other times, he looks like a deer in headlights. Could be a nice pickup, but J's must deal with the player that shows up that day.

Joey Bats, as he was known as here in da burg, has some serious pop in that bat...when he actually catches up to good fastballs.
I was kinda dissapointed about the move because word from people close to the team was that he was in their plans to be a super utility player for the net few years of the rebuild.
But from what I read and understand, Jose has no intentions of calling it quits as a starter. He wants a chance to play every day and in Toronto next year, we will probably get that chance.
Good pickup for the Jays.
On a side note: My PERSONAL nickname for Jose is Drama Queen.
He makes every high, inside, or remotely wild pitch seem as though it would cost him his LIFE. HE moves, dives, jumps, and flails himself around the batters box.....fairly often. Every single movement of the sort is EXTREMELY over exaggerated...Funny Funny Guy.
Im sure the fans that read this site will pickup on this pretty quickly. lol
