The A's should without a doubt go for Rafael Furcal. I probably won't ever warm to the idea of giving an injury prone player a 4 year deal (hello Eric Chavez) though.
CoCo Crisp is gone. If the Sox sign Baldelli, you damn better hope that nothing happens to Ellsbury, Drew, or Bay, because we'll be seeing quite a few starts from Jonathan Van Every then.

Julio Lugo for Juan Pierre

I like the Lugo for Pierre idea. Would help fill holes for both teams if Furcal signs elsewhere.
I would love to see the Yanks get Baldelli, but I doubt it will happen.

Really the A's are looking at Furcal?

2 seasons ago, the idea of you getting dontrelle willis for julio lugo would have warranted a faster hangup than if it were a courtesy call for printer ink.
what happened to that guy? diminished stuff?
he is still only 26 - i think he's a gamble worth taking, especially for a spare part like lugo

Texiera will be in Pinstripes

i really hope colton is joking...
pierre doesnt fill any sort of hole for the red sox... he'd just be creating a different one at a different position.

not really. it sounds like the sox want lowrie as starting SS, so lugos contract is even worse. both the dodgers and sox then have expendable parts with bad contracts(assuming dodgers resign manny

jones for lugo..
i know no one is boston wants him but no one is la wants lugo.
he stunk when he came over from tampa bay, i know he played the super utility role but he couldnt hit. and then he went to red sox.. and couldnt hit or field for that matter.
i actually cant believe theo made that signing. lugo was nothing for years and then he hit well for half a year and got huge money.
i guess lugo can fill in at 2nd.

i'm not sure what you mean.
how does acquiring bad player A for bad player B make a bad contract swap acceptable?
pierre A) isn't good and B) doesnt fill any need for the red sox.
they dont need a LH outfielder.
and frankly, pierres contract is worse than lugos as hes signed through 2011... lugo is only signed through 2010 with an option.
trading lugo for willis would be fine imo.. willis is only 26 and has had quite a bit of success at the major league level. so while his annual salary is high hes only signed for 2 more years so if he sucks its not as painful as a lugo or pierre.

Baldelli to the Red Sox seems like a good fit. With Baldelli's health and the fact that Red Sox only need to fill a 4th outfield role, the two could be a perfect fit.
Baldelli can play all 3 outfield positions so a 4th outfielder role could still turn in to 350+ at bats something I'd imagine is still be important to Baldelli.

There is no way Baldelli gets 350 ab's on the Red Sox unless Ortiz goes down at DH. Baldelli this year had to be subbed out in the 7th for defense/fatigue, and I don't think ever started in the field on consecutive days. The Red Sox would be better going in another direction, there is just too much unknown about his disorder to count on him in any role beyond pinch hitter.
