As much as Byrnes gets praised...it looks more bad than good.
Lost on the Vazquez, Valverde, and BIG TIME on the Quentin trade. Gave his brother, Eric Byrnes, a dumb extension instead of handing the job over to Quentin.
Trading for and signing Haren to a team-friendly deal is a big plus, but overall I think that Quentin thing sticks out more than anything for me.

Add to that the fact that he lost Uggla to the Marlins through Rule 5 and traded Scott Hairston to a league rival for a zero value prospect.

Troy Glaus is certainly better than Orlando Hudson as well.

Halsey for Cruz was a winner.
Bonifacio got Olsen and Willingham from the Marlins, so I'm not sure him for Jon Rauch was too good.

You really can't judge the Quentin trade too much. Yeah, Quentin is good, but he was injured in 2007 and a huge question mark.
And, the reason for the Quentin trade, if I remember, was because the A's didn't want Quentin in the Haren deal; they wanted Carter. Which is bad for the A's as well. But, Haren is really really good, and good cheap pitchers cost a lot.
Valverde was a loss, although I'd say Vazquez was somewhat of an even.
He's not a great GM, but I wouldn't say he's done a bad job.

Byrnes is an OK gm.
I do disagree with the Quentin and Bonifacio trades though.
The DBacks gave up way to much for Haren!
and the Eric Byrnes deal was outragious.
But im glad the DBacks got rid of Troy Gluas, because if we didnt, we would have never gotten Hudson and Reynolds would have never came up!
He's ok, just makes alot of stupid mistakes

I would rather have O-Dog than Troy Glaus. Thats just my opinion. Josh Byrnes sucks as a GM. He got that job probably by riding Theo Epsteins coattails in Boston.
