Marlins Claim Dan Meyer

According to Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, the Marlins claimed pitcher Dan Meyer off waivers from the Athletics today.  He'll contend for a bullpen spot.  Meyer was an important piece in the Tim Hudson trade several years ago.

Meyer, 27, posted a 4.48 ERA in 122.2 minor league innings this year and pitched poorly in 27.2 innings for the A's.  He had multiple shoulder surgeries since being acquired.

It's sad to see all the advertisements for Yes on 8 on this website.

whats the question on 8? what state are you from?

Agreed, Giants Bob. Very agreed.

(And I don't care about the "we'll accept advertising from anyone" line of thought. Certain things should be too controversial for a sports site. That is most certainly one of them. F Jeff Kent, too.)

is it the marriage bill for california? yeah, seeing how that pans out is going to be interesting. dont care either way really, but i do find the "yes" voters to have humorous websites, "its for the children!"

The Huddy trade was sad. Very sad.

Best of luck to Dan though, the surgeries did suck.

Am I the only one who thinks Meyer could be a deep sleeper with a move to the Marlins bullpen?

Totally dependent primarily on his health, of course, and secondarily on the velocity of his fastball and the bite on his slider.

But if he can get his stuff back, he might actually thrive in a lefty bullpen role.

It's an add guys get over it.

Now on to baseball. Where are the orioles on these guys? Meyer would be awesome for the O's! First Mitre who has good stuff now this. Mcphail come on!!!

I love the Marlins and how they can get guys like this.

No, it's an "ad", and some of us do care enough to mention to Tim that it doesn't have much of a place on a baseball website. Tim, I believe, indicated he agreed in another thread. Sooo ... if we're not scolding you for your apathy, please refrain from scolding others for caring. Thanx!

Not caring about an add does not make me apathetic. I simply don't get riled up everytime something I don't agree with pops up in my life. Rather then worrying about an add worry about the discussion.

Oh I didn't again..."add,add,add,add,add."
This is a baseball discussion not an english class but thank you professor.

So instead of worrying about an ad, you worry about me worrying about an ad. Makes sense.

(Also, review the chapter on then/than)
