THURSDAY: 10:45am: Waiting For Next Year writes that the Indians will have to make another move before next Saturday, when Sowers was scheduled to start. Pitchers David Huff and Zach Jackson are the leading candidates for a call-up. "When this decision is made," writes WFNY, "expect the Masa Kobayashi experience to come to an end."
9:38am: According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, the Indians announced the signing of Vizcaino to a Major League deal today. Instead of releasing Masahide Kobayashi, the club demoted Jeremy Sowers.
WEDNESDAY: Waiting with bated breath to see what happens with free agent reliever Luis Vizcaino? You'll have to wait a little longer. Paul Hoynes of the Cleveland Plain Dealer says Vizcaino threw for the Indians a third time yesterday, but the team says they have not signed him. Vizcaino, however, insists he'll be on the club when they leave for Tampa Bay today (MLB.com's Anthony Castrovince agrees).

I wish my Cubs would take him back and dump Heilman instead. I don't know what the hell that team is doing.

I still think the Cubs were kinda stupid to release him though. I'm not saying cut Heilman, but does anyone really think Patton, who hadn't pitched above A ball until this year and is 25, will stick all season?

cubs made a few mistakes this year in regards to keeping Patton
first letting chad walk...no no not chad fox
then getting rid of luis without even giving him a chance, what did he get? 3.2 innings of scoreless...walkless ball gets you cut?

Scoreless, walkless ball, you say? Hmmm... sounds like something the Tribe needs. Lets get him in uniform, already.

Yeah I think that the decision to go with Patton over Gaudin was questionable in the first place, and letting Vizcaino go rather than Patton was extremely questionable as well.
I'm still trying to figure out why the Cubs like Patton so much. He walks a lot of guys, and gives up a lot of hits and home runs. The HR/9 rate isn't likely to stay so high because of the small sample size and his good GB rate, but I just don't know how you keep this guy over proven guys like Vizcaino and Gaudin.
Heilman's track record is too good to let him go. He's still missing bats and isn't allowing a lot of hits, but the walks are seriously concerning. From 2005-2007 he showed excellent command, but it's wavered in the past two years, and it's made him substantially less effective. His GB/FB ratio is back to where it was before 2008, so logically his HR/9 rate should decline from its current level, but this guy isn't the pitcher he was from 2005-2007. Then again, he's not that far off though, so you definitely don't give up on him yet.
I'm really glad they didn't let Guzman go though.

Eric Wedge is considering executions in his bullpen at this point, maybe he should pull a Swisher and get Trevor Crowe to pitch.
