WEEI.com's Alex Speier reports that the Red Sox have agreed to sign first round pick Reymond Fuentes to a bonus of $1.13MM. The deal is expected to become official later today.
Fuentes, who happens to be Carlos Beltran's cousin, is an outfielder who has drawn comparisons to Jacoby Ellsbury and Johnny Damon.
The deal's official, according to a team press release. The Red Sox also agreed to terms with four of their other selections, including fourth rounder Jeremy Hazelbaker.

Skill. not luck. the front office knows some hidden talents that fall to where the red sox draft. its just another skill the red sox organization is skilled in having.

"Skill. not luck"
It really doesn't take much skill to have Fuentes, a player they openly pined for, fall into your lap with a late first round pick.
However in fairness they have been on of the better organizations, if not the best, at acquiring top talent in the supplemental rounds in recent years.

Not that its a huge deal - but the Sox came to an agreement with Hazelbaker well before this announcement. He's already been bumped up to - and is playing in Lo-A ball.

This might be the best collection of draft picks and Int'l UFA's the RS have ever signed.
I'm not neccessarily talking about potential all-stars, just guys who will likely be MLB players eventually.
