I find it hard to believe Bob Melvin was "hugely impressive." He's not a good manager. Terrible in-game decision maker.

"•As Alex Speier of WEEI.com notes, the Red Sox purchased the contract of 22-year-old indy leaguer Reynaldo Rodriguez from the Yuma Scorpions. Rodriguez has yet to establish himself at any one position, though he has been playing first."
Okay, and why is it important the we picked up the contract of a guy who doesn't know where he's gonna play yet?

Who said it was important? This is a baseball website that posts baseball related news if you don't like that then don't bother to post...

It was kind of a surprising sign by the Sox. Rodriquez played 3 seasons with the NYY DSL teams before he was injured/released, then 1 year of Independent ball and was hoping the Sox might convert C Ryan Lavarnway to a 1B who had 25+ PB at Greeneville last season into a 1B, but crushed with his bat, leading all Sox ML'ers in HR and RBI and has obvious problems playing the catcher position.
Anthony Rizzo will be the Salem high A ball 1B and Lars Anderson at AA, so he is either going to Greenville, or must just be an organizational depth sign.

Like has been written already here.. Not much in the way of stuff about him, just a 23YO guy who never has played above equivalent of A Ball before.
Here is his Bio page at Soxprospects.com and you can read another topic on the forums that has slightly more info regarding Rodriquez. He is not anything to get excited about, looks like organizational depth signing IMO.
