I’m not surprised they let Buehrle’s 5/10 rights kick in. The organization thinks very highly of him; they probably wouldn’t have traded him without discussing it with him anyway.

As long as he pitches like he did two days ago I’m fine with it.

“and has been on his current team for the last five”
Should this read “for at least the last five” since Buehrle has spent his entire career with the White Sox?

No need. It works as it is. It’s just a threshold.
When you see, “You must be this tall to ride” at the amusement park, you don’t say, “Shouldn’t it say, ‘You must be this tall or taller to ride?'”

True enough.

It’s really too bad the White Sox like Buehrle that much. He would be incredibly useful in St. Louis right about now, as well as being in his hometown.
But at least he is on a competitive team.

when his contract is up look for him to do one of two things, retire or sign a 1-2 year deal with the cards, he has said in the past he wants to pitch there becuase it is his home town team (he would kill in the NL) or he wants to retire, he wants to watch his kids grow up, either way he is a stand up guy and has enough money to do what he wants
