Orioles Designate Matt Angle For Assignment

The Orioles announced that they have designated Matt Angle for assignment. The move creates 40-man roster space for Luis Ayala, whose signing is now official.

Angle debuted with the 2011 Orioles, playing all three outfield positions, and posting a .559 OPS in 95 plate appearances. The 26-year-old spent most of the season at Triple-A, where he posted a .271/.347/.344 line in 489 plate appearances.

I was originally disappointed with the Angle DFA, but as an O’s fan if it means not having to deal with any more ‘Angle’ jokes then I’m ok with this.

Well, while I am sorry for Angle. I am glad is wasn’t Alfredo Simon.
All our call up outfielders are gone. Hudson and Angle. Also, Tyler Henson was traded for the immortal Dana Eveland. I guess Duquette wasn’t a fan of our AAA team.

O’s have a top heavy far system.  Their top ten isn’t bad at all, its after the top ten that the problems lie.  Also most of the top 10 aren’t anywhere close to the majors, which is another problem.

The most optimistic Angle supporter in the world would probably put him at 11 tops, and I haven’t seen one list that puts him that high.

I am sure you know all of this.
