Rangers Will Consider Roy Oswalt

Rangers General Manager Jon Daniels said the club will consider signing pitcher Roy Oswalt in the wake of Neftali Feliz’s elbow injury, writes T.R. Sullivan of MLB.com.  The Rangers watched the veteran throw on Friday.

Texas has long been linked to Oswalt but there was no room for the 34-year-old in the starting rotation.  Feliz's injury could create an opening for Oswalt as the club isn't ready to ready to promote Martin Perez or Neil Ramirez from Triple-A.  Scott Feldman is set to replace Feliz in the rotation and while Alexi Ogando is also a candidate he is not stretched out like Feldman.

Oswalt wouldn't be ready to step in to the rotation immediately for the Rangers but could provide depth in the event of another injury.

This just in: 31 teams other than Rangers will “consider” signing Oswalt.

Roy would make a good Ranger, even if his last name isn’t Rogers

  3. Good, Oswalt can stay out of “Charm City”!

With the way Minor is going we need him

Yes they do…..It’s a better fit for Oswalt to pitch in the NL and in turner field than the AL and Arlington if he’s goal is to reestablish value.

Considering he was content to sit out half a season to find a fit he considers perfect, I doubt re-establishing value is anywhere near the top of his list of considerations.

Does he get an excavator to pair with the 200,000 dollar bulldozer Drayton McLane of the Astros gave him in 2005. I mean this is a Missouri Boy and this is another Texas team.

  6. Neffy didnt want to become a starter.  He has said that he is more comfortable in relief.   FYI has nothing to do with money

Elbow inflammation can be caused by many things. Tommy John comes from a torn UCL, which probably isn’t the case with him so that’s a far stretch. He’s been dominant so far and e will continue to progress once he is able to go deep into the season.

Not so. Feliz was a starter in the minors
