Like it more for the Padres.

Kind of win win for both teams since Oakland technically didn’t give up anyone. They just used their Rule 5 pick which they probably didn’t want for anyone else.

If your a Josh Byrnes player on the Padres, be ready to move. Makes sense now why Renfroe and Jankowski are being shopped.. Seems like a solid move.

Preller wants to expel the Ghost of Byrnes from the Padres soul.

I think this was all and all a bad trade for the A’s, they gave up one of the best relievers they had last year and two promising young guys, for what?
A pitcher that struggled and a 1st baseman that can’t hit for power.
This was quite a lobsided trade in my opinion

Don’t like this trade for the A’s.
A good reliever and two promising young players for a struggling reliever and a 1st baseman that can’t hit for power

Have always wondered if a bad disagreement has ever occurred on the player to be named later. Like the team was expecting a better player.

I think it happened a few years back and the trade got voided.

No it was already agreed upon that the A’s would use their Rule 5 pick to take Blash and then trade him to the Padres. That’s why it was a “PTBNL or cash.” If someone who drafted ahead of the A’s took Blash then the A’s were to send cash instead.

Padres now have three Rule 5 guys on the roster. That obviously is not gonna work. Two of them (at least) are going back.
