Why are the Nats paying to keep Tyler Moore on the roster??? They should have done him a favor and just cut him.

A trade chip?
WolandJR
Must be. But just seems like he doesn’t have any value. Maybe Rizzo is hoping that he lights it up in spring, and he can get a middling minor league reliever in return…

For 900k that’s not exactly breaking the bank. I don’t know the league minimum, but that price for a backup/depth 1b doesn’t seem terrible given Zimmerman’s injury history.

Just over 500 K.

With Zimmerman’s long injury history, it’s always nice to have some cheap insurance.

Smoak making 3.9 mill dang.
Lance
Jays betting one day Smoak reaches the potential everyone thought he had when Texas drafted him. Texas thought he was going to be the next Texieria.
soulchild07
Justin Smoak got 3.9mill because your projection was based on his 1 million base salary from last year whereas it should have been based off his 2.6 salary from 2014…

We know. There’s no “should have,” it’s part of the process to argue over the base in a situation like his. But this data point will obviously be considered going forward.
(I’m speaking for myself there, but assume that’s how Matt Swartz will handle it — but he knows much better than I.)

“Lobaton’s deal comes in just shy of Lobaton’s $1.5MM projection.”
Typo, I’m assuming? 😉
Jeff Todd
Little awkward, but no. He agreed to a contract value that was a bit below what we projected.
EDIT: Oh wait, my name is on this post. But Steve wrote that. Great job, Steve. I’ll edit it for you.

Jeff,
What % difference from your arb salary projections do you consider significant? I realize there may be a variety of reasons for the difference.
