After some good arguments for both sides in the other posts I am really curious to know what is on the table from the Dodgers in order to acquire Dozier…seems to me like something could still get done…we’ve got a nice little game of chicken going on here between the two organizations

The Twins nixed the Dodgers’ offer of De Leon and Foghorn Leghorn.

Haha

lmfao

Foghorn will always be a farmhand….

Theres a reason why the twins are stuck near the bottom of the MLB the past decade. They don’t trade at the right time. classic example is Trevor plouffe. two years ago, you could have gotten quite a value by selling high. nope, they ignored trade calls and they released him this year. Dozier is in the same situation. Take Jose DeLeon and Brock Stewart. outside of Santana, the whole rotation is not that good.

Twins have a completely new front office. You can’t apply any failures of the old crew to the guys going forward just yet.
Also, past decade? Half decade, so about 5 years, sure.?but from 2006-2010 the twins were a damn good team.

The Twins are pretty hamstrung by their bad Mauer extension. A singles-hitting first baseman making 20 million -plus a year for a small-market team is a bad waste of limited resources.

Agreed. Mauer as a catcher was worth it. Not as a first baseman. Hopefully the new regime doesn’t handle him the same way the old regime did. Some days he’s going to have to ride the bench, especially with Vargas and Park at first as well. Maybe he should learn to play the corner outfield as well to increase his value. He still has a rocket arm.

Thankfully that extension is gone in another 21 months or so,.
ClancyJ
Hopefully the organization realizes he’s not a part of the future, and plays Vargas and Park more. They both have more pop.

One would think they would do that deal if indeed Stewart was added. Has there been any word the Dodgers were willing to give both those guys for Dozier? I haven’t seen any reports other than DeLeon straight up recently.
duhtruth
the reports are the twins want DeLeon plus bellinger or Alvarez. That’s crazy since those two could land Jose quintana instead. obviously no one would do a one for one trade, but twins shouldn’t overplay this since dodgers are too smart to bite in. look at his many former executives they have.

According to an article written last night (pioneer press) the Dodgers didn’t want to include Stewart, Alvarez or Buehler. The other two feel obvious, but in a way so does Stewart. I don’t think teams want to give up two MLB ready arms due to risk (injuries or poor performance in their current five man rotation)

Glad to see Vogelsong is extending his career. The dude is a fighter! Really hope he makes the 25 man roster, if not, he’ll pitch well in the minors and my bet he’s back in the majors for someone before the end of the year.

Agreed. His comeback is one of the most unheralded stories in baseball over the past decade. The Giants would not have won it all in 2012 without him.

One of my favorite underdog players. I really enjoy seeing him succeed. Hopefully he gets to toss a few more decent innings before he calls it a career.

Would have been interesting to see what Vogelsong would have achieved with the Pirates had he not been injured. I doubt the numbers would have been better, but who knows? He had some nice moments in 2016. Best of luck.
