Abraham On Matsuzaka: "Calm Down"
Peter Abraham, Yankees beat writer for The Journal News, is telling us all to relax a little bit in his blog. He later checked in again after talking to Brian Cashman and says the Yankees haven't heard anything about Matsuzaka yet. Other interesting bits from Abraham's fine blog:
- I quote: "The Japanese papers literally have people standing outside of the team offices waiting to get the news [on Matsuzaka]."
- Andy Pettitte's wife doesn't seem to like the idea of a return to the Yanks.
- Carl Pavano and Luke Scott carry guns.
-

man the japanese really care for there players, andy pettite's wife is smart because shes afraid he'll get shot by pavano, but then again isnt pavano to fragile to use a gun lol

What are they talking about Luke Scott carries a gun? How is that related to the subject?

LOL bravesrule14 Pavano might pull a hamstring trying to shoot the gun, and that would effectively put him on the DL for two, maybe three seasons...
Pavano is the single biggest waste of money in professional sports... well, maybe a close second to Terrell Owens...

i would have to go with the Russ Ortiz contract being the biggest waste

lol well TO is only a waste of money if he starts doign interviews while doing situps

I believe the Boston Globe just did a study of the amount of players in pro sports that carry liscensed guns and liike 90% of NFL and NBA players do, I assume they had baseball stats also

um, Kevin Brown's 7 year 109 million deal with the fuckin dodgers was the worst in history, he never got healthy again those whole 7 years. even after he was traded to the yanks.

Darren Dreifort is the all-time worst at 5 years 57mm when his career record was 39-45. He was incredibly mediocre afterwards too and missed 2 entire seasons of the 5.

We probably will not know the result until the 14th (in Japan). There are some reports stating that they will announce the winner at a party to celebrate Japan's win at the WBC.

If Pavano ends up not pitching for 2 more years, then he really is the biggest waste.
Brown at least had a couple of decent seasons.
Neagle and Dreifort are currently the worst. Honorable mention to the Tiger's troy percival contract.
BTW, I heard the reason why pettitte's wife wanted him to leave NYC (and now doesnt' want to go back) is because Andy had a mistress in NYC that she wanted to get him away from. Might explain why he turned down more money from the yankees to go to the astros.

The worst contracts ever are Neagle, Dreifort, and your forgetting Chan Ho Park.
I was reading up on Dreifort and the parallels to the AJ Burnett contract are uncanny. Luckily, AJ didn't have to have TJ again, and will now pitch really good for at lesat 2 more years.

scottbroisius r u joking, steinbrenner never appreciated pettite at all. Always was looked over because of clemens wells etc. Pettite didnt get a bigger offer by the yankees, they tried to get him to stay for less money. He stated when he left he felt like he wasnt appreiciated enough.
That being said i dont know anything about a mistress but i guess that could play into it lol.
