« Rosenthal On The Angels | Main | Teixeira Pines For Orioles »
And in other news, I tidied up my desk today. Mark Buehrle's housecleaning, however, is just barely newsworthy. It could be a sign that a deal is impending, or it could just be plain old cleaning. I can speak from experience: I only cleaned out my high school locker when school was out for summer. And I found an old sandwich. Just saying.
Ken Rosenthal mentioned today that various execs still expect Buehrle to be traded. The Dodgers, Mets, and Mariners seem to be the top contenders.
Buehrle, for his part, is as sick of the constant rumors as you are. He's planning on testing free agency if he doesn't stay with Chicago.
UPDATE: Jayson Stark is reporting that Williams is asking for three players for Buehrle, two of which must be premium prospects. Ultimately I think KW will settle for just one top prospect. Geoff Baker of the Seattle Times would begrudgingly surrender center fielder Adam Jones.
Stark adds that the Red Sox are back in the Buehrle sweepstakes, trying to push Julio Lugo on the White Sox as part of the deal.

humm... probably just a statement to the FO saying "I'm ready to leave now" so maybe the mistake they are making being stubborn on the extension sinks in a bit more...

Ken needs to cut the crap and just sign him. Partly because it makes sense to keep him at the price he is offering, and because I am tired of hearing his name in trade rummors.

Ken Rosenthal and every one else can leave the Mets out of it. The Mets only have one big injury concern, and that's Sosa. O.P. seems to be fine. With rest through the All-Star break, he should be just fine. Pedro seems to be coming along at a nice clip (knock on wood). Carlos Gomez broke his hand and will be out for a Month to a Month and a half. Alou is not reliable and Endy Chavez is hurt. With all that chaos with the left field position, how can the Mets trade Milledge? I know that mentioning the big cities sell papers and grabs headlines, but lets be real here.

There's a small chance he plays for the Cubs, more so than there was in the past.

I agree papa, I dont think the Mets are going to stick it out with a Ledee/ Easley platoon. Atleast I hope not. Milledge should be up playing pretty soon IMO, and Green better get his act together or he may lose his job when both Gomez and Milledge are healthy. His defense, or atleast his range and arm strength are a tremendous downgrade from either one of those guys, and if he doesnt start to hit his bat wont be enough to justify him playing everyday over 2 kids who could be gaining valuable experience, even if it is in the middle of a playoff race.

Dont get me wrong, I love Easley and Ledee has been a very pleasant surprise (its not hard to see why he was so highly touted coming up as a Yankee because this guy has a beautiful swing and he shows flashes of what made him a desirable prospect). That said, I think they are both better served at this point coming off the bench. Especially Easley, because we have really no evidence other then 1 or 2 games to show he can handle left field. Atleast Ledee is an outfielder. If all goes well with Lastings he should get another shot to prove himself pretty soon.

3 players and 2 top prospects? Sounds like a bad deal. If the Mariners trade Adam Jones and lose Ichiro, man are they in hot water.

"Buehrle was apparently playing a joke on reporters by packing up his belongings, with the White Sox insisting he was not being traded and is still scheduled to pitch on Saturday."
