« Braves Offering Jo-Jo Reyes, Yunel Escobar For Arroyo | Main | Padres Acquire Morgan Ensberg »
Barry Svrluga of the Washington Post is hearing whispers about the Diamondbacks possibly trading 22 year-old outfielder Carlos Gonzalez to the Nationals for Chad Cordero. The right fielder has come alive to hit .326/.396/.616 in Double A this month. He'd instantly become the Nationals' #1 prospect.

this is disapointing if the diamondbacks end up getting cordero, they have a good bullpen already, but nvm that, the mets need to get cordero.

I'll be very disappointed if Cordero nets a top flight prospect like Gonzalez and Gagne gets nothing more than what the Rangers got...SMFH.

The difference of course is that Gagne is a two month rental and Cordero I believe can be controlled for another three years.

if the nats could get one more (minor) piece, this deal goes down.

Interesting. I thought the assumption was that Gonzalez/Quentin would be bait for a starter, not a reliever.

Without another quality starter there isn't a reliever out there who will save the DBacks. We have 2 major dark clouds in our rotation of SP's and that's won't change with a reliever/closer.

I take it this deal didn't happen, or just hasn't been announced yet?
