Salomon Torres Requests Trade
Pirates reliever Salomon Torres believes Dave Littlefield tricked him during their contract talks in April of 2006. Torres did not use an agent. To hear him tell it, he had a verbal agreement with Littlefield that the Pirates would pay to rent one of Torres's baseball academies in the Dominican Republic. That never happened, so Torres filed a grievance.
Now Torres feels that because of the grievance, he is being punished by the Bucs by means of a longer-than-necessary rehab assignment for his elbow. He's fed up with the team and would like to be traded.
Torres has about $1.3MM left on his contract this year and $3.2MM for '08. His deal also has a $3.75MM club option for '09 with a $300K buyout attached. Torres can earn another $900K in incentives.
Torres is now 35, and he logged a whopping 280 relief innings during 2004-06. He'd be a fairly risky acquisition. However, with some of the silly reliever deals handed out this offseason, he's still got trade value.
Hehehe, kind of amusing...
Anyway, how many years in the league making how much money after coming from poverty and still negotiates his own contracts while not getting stuff in writting?
He sounds like a good guy if he is doing that stuff in the DR and all, but he really should have known better than that...

Yes, here we go, this is the bounty I have been talking about, the braves should just go ahead and gain torres by offering salty and escobar. I think that may be able to get it done, I am finally glad the perfect bounty has been found.

Dear God, I hope that this guy is kidding or that he is really Dave Littlefield pretending to be a random fan. Salty and Escobar for a relief pitcher, a non-closing relief pitcher at that?

Fine - I'll make the mandatory Jacque Jones trade proposal. Jones, and 1 Pitcher - from Cherry , Howry, Guzman, Eyre, Ohman. Done deal. Might as well through out a random rumor I picked up on NY talk radio - Yankees GM Cashman to replace Cubs GM at end of year- probably crap but aren't most rumors?

I'm 99.99% sure that "bravesbeast" was kidding. Otherwise, I think he should be permenantly banned from this site!!! The Braves don't need another RP, especially a righty.
