Jose Guillen Busted For Steroids

Say it ain't so, Jose.  Free agent right fielder Jose Guillen just saw his stock plummet, as the Game of Shadows guys nailed him for prolonged HGH and steroid use.  Well, at least for purchasing almost $20K worth of various performance-enhancers from May 2002 to June 2005.  He actually had steroids shipped to him at the Oakland Coliseum.  Matt Williams and Ismael Valdez were also implicated, sadly.  All three used the same dentist Paul Byrd did, calling his story into question a bit.

Guillen spoke out against steroid use earlier this year, saying he "never considered" using them.  He might be back to where he was a year ago, finding an incentive-laden contract guaranteeing around $5MM.  So much for three years, $30MM guaranteed.  Guillen was already known as a mercurial character, and this just compounds the concerns.

Well this explains why his option was declined.

I hate the guy, but if he isn't suspended, then $5m will be the best signing of the year. Guy can still produce.

o snap!

hahaha

I love then these problem childs get busted.

Doh! Right after I made my Hot Stove predictions. Gah.

Wait! I thought only Barry did roids!!

Matt Willliams is a shame. He was a hard nosed gamer. Goes to show that everyone is cheating.

Whowouldathunk that the most credible steroids source would be Jose Canseco?

Canseco mentioned Williams?

I'm not sure if Canseco mentioned Williams, but his accusations of possibly 50% of MLB players were using was dismissed. The way things are falling out he might be a credible source.

I also wonder if Bavasi knew something about this when he declined Guillen's option. It was considered a dumb move since everyone thought Guillen would decline it anyway.

I don't think he named matt williams...

But the Mitchell papers should name a ton more...probably no Red Sox though...interesting!

Yeah, that Mitchell list, if they want to save time, should just be a list of the guys who are clean. It will save time, and save some trees.
