1st! Ha. Thanks for all your hard work Tim. I have been reading this site, along with your others for a very long time and it took me a while to every tell you that. This page alone has filled hour long discussions between my friends and I so many times.
About Fukudome.. I think the Cubs are in the best position to acquire him over other teams, having stated he was their number 1 priority from the beginning. I like Fukudome based on his talent, not just because he is left handed. I think Hendry is off keel if he adds several marginal left handers if he doesn't get K-Fukudome.
Also can you imagine Harry announcing games 160 some days a year with Fukudome in it.. That would be hilarious!

Why is it that everytime a minority position player is discussed, u have to add that they suck on defense or they have a bad attitude?
check ur archives tim. unless they have a gold glove, u call them a "butcher". it's like clockwork.
nevermind that ibanez can mash.

hey Tim, know you probably saw it and even may have mentioned it ~ but incase ya didnt figured I would add this Cubs tidbits here:
"The Cubs, who received almost no power production from the left side in 2007, want to add two left-handed hitting outfielders to their lineup. If they can sign Kosuke Fukudome from Japan, that would fill one spot. They've inquired about Geoff Jenkins, and some people in the organization want to see GM Jim Hendry pursue a trade for the Angels' Chone Figgins, a switch-hitter. But the Cubs probably don't have what it takes to land Figgins. The Angels value Figgins so highly, one person with ties to the Los Angeles organization said the team might ask the Cubs for third baseman Aramis Ramirez in return. "

Bsox - Ibanez sucking on D is well-documented. Prove your allegation of racism. Just searched the archives for the word "butcher" and found Kevin Kouzmanoff, Michael Young, and a ton of commenters mostly calling white guys butchers.
Darkstar - that one came up here.

tim, wasnt calling u racist.
i didnt mean butcher ltierally. jus meant all minorties cant seem to field on this site.
i like ur site. u know that. iv been a loyal poster and reader for over a year now.
jus saying, it seems like there's a trend. i think its also worth mentioning that adding ibanez to break up the righties of aramis and derrek lee, iwth sori and pie at the top of the order would be one of the most exciting lineups in the league.
ibanez can MASH when he wants too.

I've said it before, I hope Jim Hendry is aggresively pursuing other left handed power bats. Waiting for Fukudome brings back awful memories of the 05 offseason waiting for Furcal. Plus that name just suggests he's "messing" with our heads. Fukudome. (dome being "head" for those who couldn't see that. Ibanez is alright, but does anyone else feel like that's settling?

If Raul Ibanez can mash when he wants to, then why wouldn't he mash 6 months out of the year....it's worth the extra 10 mil a year he'd receive in the open market no?

As a huge Cubs fan, I would have liked to have Ibanez 3 or 4 years ago, but not now unless its only for 1 year. He's a good clutch hitter which we really need in the 6th spot, but we couldnt use him inbetween Ramirez and Lee. I would much rather throw extra money at Fukudome first and hope he grabs.
Dempster needs to be traded for whatever we can get. You cant rely on him for anything: closer, starter, or bullpen. His stuff isnt overwhelming, and he is erratic. Certainly dont put him as our 5th starter!

bsox,
Are you serious? Did you realize that Fukudome himself is a minority, and its been mentioned that he is a great fielder, and can even play center? He said that one of the two minorities are a butcher. The thing is, Ibanez is a butcher in left, so what does that make him in RF, at Wrigley?? He has every right to say that, its fact.

I agree, bsox assertions of Tim's bias are completely unfounded and damn near offensive in their own right. Tim, please make the change from TypeKey asap. It's getting ridiculous.

Nancy, I've learned that it's best to voluntarily sign out of TypeKey after each post. Even having to sign in often is better than losing a paragragh long post.
