perfect, thats all we need in the santana mix, scott boras...

I like the idea of adding Miller as the backup backstop...as long as he doesn't cost too much. His veteran leadership could help some of the younger pitchers.

If Guillen would have accepted arbitration couldn't the Mariners have traded him? Wouldn't take much to replace a supplemental picks value.

If that news about Lester and Ellbury is true, it sure seems that they do not want to go to Minnesota and are creating a poison pill. Maybe the Yankees will be back in the mix.

"it sure seems that they do not want to go to Minnesota and are creating a poison pill."

Yeah baseball executives are such pussies they are terrified that 3-4 years from now they might have to talk contract with Boras.

Larue puts up a weak argument. Very weak. Basically first insinuating that Guillen would take a 1/11m deal over a 3/36m deal. Yah... not happening. Then he goes onto say that if he did accept arby, the Mariners would be forced to bench him since Ibanez/Ichiro/Jones are the OFers. What a bunch of crap.
Heres an idea... If Guillen accepted you could move Ibanez to DH where he belongs.
Larue is trying to rationalize the irrational.

Actually USS Mariner pointed out that MLB has a rule that you owe 1/6 of the salary if you cut a player after they win an arbitration case and before March 15th. They basically blew a supplemental first rounder over a 10% chance that Guillen would cost them 2 million bucks. Bavasi is a terrible general manager.
