I've got some more info from the same source that told me about Boston's interest in Brad Wilkerson.
- The Red Sox offered Wilkerson one year and $2MM plus incentives, and today is the deadline for him to decide. The appeal is that Wilkerson would join a winning organization for the first time; he'd be a backup first baseman and outfielder. It does not seem that Wilkerson is seeking three years and $21MM.
- Wilkerson's fate could be linked to the Erik Bedard situation. If the Mariners are able to acquire Bedard and give up Adam Jones, they would be interested in signing Wilkerson to play right field. That would be a better chance for playing time for him.

Hey Tim, if the Mets do trade Church in the deal for Santana wouldn't they be interested in Wilkerson as well because they will have nobody playing RF.
I don't consider Gomez as MLB ready so in my opinion it is either Pagan, Wilkerson or Sammy Sosa playing in RF for the Mets.

Or a platoon of Easley and Nady or Green, which would destroy anything the above players could do.

Wilkerson is going to be a really nice signing for some team. Makes sense that Epstein is in on him.

Wilkerson was good from 02-04, but has been trash since, putting up OPS+ of 103, 86, and 104 last year.

If trash is a 104, what does that make your current options?? If u make a santana trade

OPS is deceptive because it double counts batting average(and therefore double penalizes a low average). His walk and power rates have both remained solid so if he can just get the AVG back up to .250-.260 he'll be a productive player again. Talent is still there.

Spose the Mets could get in on that, but I haven't heard anything of that nature.
