Sabathia would be a great a great pickup for the Rays, but what they really need is a big bat. They should've signed Barry Bonds, but now it may be too late for that. They should try to get someone fairly young that they can sign to a long term deal. Jason Bay is still fairly young, and they Rays could get him for a decent price. T

I agree that they could pull of a Bay deal, but he has to play an outfield corner. You either move Crawford and play him out of position or put Bay in right and play him out of position.

I've been endorsing a Bay trade all along. Too bad one of their trading chips went down in McGee. Just shows you that most prospects are far from untouchable and most don't work out the way you want, so why not get an all-star? Bay wouldn't be cheap, though, so don't pretend like one prospect would get it done. Look at the Swisher, Teixiera deals. I think Brignac and Davis would be a good start for Bay and Marte. They probably have other high upside prospects we don't know much about. Quantity deals are sort of making a comeback... see the Haren, Teixiera deals...
Nady could be cheaper, and wouldn't be playing out of position. He's had close to Bay's production and the Pirates probably don't want to trade Bay.

Why wouldnt they just be able to move him to DH? It's not like losing Cliff Floyd would be such a huge loss

i see nady deal as much more likely. u gotta learn to crawl before u learn to walk and for tampa, just getting nady would be a big step. and like u guys said bay would be very expensive. i dont think that proposal of brignac and davis is even close, not to mention marte will probably be the most wanted lefty available(i cant think of a better lefty avail). the cards would give up something nice for him, im sure of that. nady for a couple mid level guys or one good prospect seems reasonable. tampa would maybe get type a draft picks for nady as well so that must be considered.

Nady is one of maybe 3 or 4 available good righty bats, and maybe the only one to be put on the block. They will have to give multiple good prospects for him. plus, he's signed through next season. the pirates will need to get good pieces back to trade him.

How about Bradley to the Rays for Wade Davis or JP Howel. Bradley is an impact bat like Bay and wouldn't play out of position. That seems like the best aquisition to me.

Are you serious? Maybe if a gun was pointed to Jon Daniels' head. How people overrate prospects so much amazes me. The Rangers might just keep Bradley, but if they don't you can be sure it's going to be for a package of stud prospects, not one.

I would be very surprised if they traded for Bradley. Everyone knows that Bradley has a history of a bad attitude. Why would they trade for a guy like that when they just got rid of Delmon Young and Elijah Dukes?
I think either Nady or Bay would work by giving the Pirates a decent prospect and throwing Hinske or Gross in the deal with possibly another player.

I would love to see the Rays chase either Bay, Nady or even a Corey Hart. Any deal they make must remove Jonny Gomes from the roster and that would be addition by subtraction anyway.

Fukudome is worthless outside of wrigley (and wrigley's bizarre atmospherics this year). He's hit just one home run without the wind's help and has a .643 OPS outside of chicago. He would be viewed completely differently if he had signed with the White Sox, and even with the bizarre home field power boost the cubs are receiving this year he's not that exceptional (.843 OPS overall).

Too bad Magglio is hurt now. I actually wouldn't mind the Tigers trading Ordoñez over to Tampa. They need a battle tested outfielder, and although they probably would prefer him to be left handed, it would give their team another leader in the clubhouse. The Tigers could probably get a decent ML ready starter and enough good high A prospect. Remember, the Tigers could easily call Clevlen up and put him back in the outfield, or just wait for Wilkin Ramirez to be ready.

I wonder if the White Sox would make a play to get Freddy Garcia back?
We are thin at backup starters and could be in trouble if one of our 5 get hurt.
Also, Freddy's wife is related to Sox manager Ozzie Guillen, so maybe that would come into play.

“Fukudome is worthless outside of wrigley (and wrigley's bizarre atmospherics this year).”
…Man, I was relying on him for my fantasy team and all he’s doing is driving me nuts. I started questioning him in early May, and honestly haven’t even played him but maybe 30% of the time since then. I mean, from May 4th till now he has hit only .262/.380/.384; with basically all of that light production coming at Wrigley…
…Its really looking like Akinori Iwamura all over again. Iwamura was hitting .339/.479/.482 after his first month in the US (Fukudome was .327/.436/.480) and was sitting at .291/.392/.437 at this point last year (Fukudome is at .296/.404/.430 now). Of course, Iwamura went on to post a .282/.341/.399 line the rest of the year and has seemingly leveled off as that .275/.350/.400-ish hitter ~ if Fukudome follows suit, then my team is screwed…
