Where are the Mets? I have gotten used to Minaya being in on almost all the big time international guys. I haven't seen them linked to a single player yet this year. This is usually Minaya's bread and butter, since way back in the day. And it is even more strange, since the state of their farm system is the way it is.

Rangers fans need to stop complaining about Mr. Hicks not spending any money. We had the highest bid and we didn't get him. Amazing a prospect would leave a million dollars on the table but that says a lot about what a good organization the A's are. For everyone complains about us not spending money, how would we feel if we were stuck with Zito's contract...

As I've said before, the A's RULE! But txrangers22 you are right, in a way, because he liked the fact that the A's have developed so, many good young pitchers and the Rangers have, well, not. And Billy Beane and his staff visited him 3 times, spending time with his family. Don't know if the Rangers did, but It's awesome the A's got him. 4 years from now all the other teams in the American league are going to be kicking themselves for not putting in more time getting to know him.

Kind of annoying that the A's want the kid to change his name.

All good points Ari, but the Rangers visited him as well and have drafted and developed good young pitching. They're just not pitching here...see exhibit A: Danks, Volquez, Duscherer. Then traded others who spent time in their system...exhibit B: Chris Young and Armando Gallaraga.
But you can't beat the A's reputation, track record, and success. I look forward to A's-Rangers games in a couple years with all the young talent both teams possess.
