you forgot to mention that after he was fired as GM by the Phillies (and about 7 years too late in doing so), he became an 'advanced scout' for the royals

I hand deliver my tokens of appreciation to Shawn Chacon daily.
'Twas a long time coming. Thanks for nothing Ed.

Not sure why everyone hates Wade so much, except that Philadelphionians seem to hate everyone.
Looking at the history there is really nothing of note, but for the fact he raped Hunnsiker in the Wagner deal.
He also got Tejada, Valverde, Geary, & Bourn for Lidge, Scott, and a bunch of nothin'

you don't think philadelphians have a right to hate wade? how about him signing david bell to a 4 year 17mil deal, and PUBLICLY acknowledging two years ago that the reason he traded placido polanco was because he felt he would get ripped apart for playin polanco and benching bell. Or how he traded Curt Schilling and Scott Rolen for absolutely knowing. Yes, he made a good trade for Bobby Abreu giving up Kevin Stocker. How about giving a 30+ year old with injury trouble a 6 year 85 mil dollar deal.
Being in charge of a major market team for that long and not once taking them to a postseason appearance is terrible.
He was willing to hide behind the owners, who hid from public. I'm not saying the fans/media are correct in all situations, but when it came to Ed Wade, it seemed that it was true in most cases.
And your point about what he got in Houston as opposed to what he gave away. First off, Lidge? One of the most dominant closers this year. Tejada? 33 year old with decling abilities that won't hold up for 3 more years. He traded his ENTIRE farm for a few good years. And where has it landed him? Last time I checked, the Astros weren't in 1st. or 2nd. or even 3rd. 4th? Nope. GOtta be 5th in front of the Pirates, right? NOT EVEN.

Ed Wade's stupidity expedited the road to 10,000+ franchise losses. The farm system has been awful and his timing of the market was atrocious.
If trading Schilling in his prime for Travis Lee and Vincente Padilla doesnt get you a little riled up then I don't know what will. How about locking up David Bell and Mike Lieberthal to hefty contracts after they hit the wall.
One of the biggest travesties was not dealing Wagner as a Phillie in his final year of contract, 2005, when we were non contenders. The same year the RedSox made numerous inquiries for Wagner to ready their run with prospects like Papelbon, Youkilis & Hanley within grasp.
Mike is on point. Flash you're misinformed and if your an Astros fan, I can only wish you the best of luck with Eddy Highpants. It's gonna get ugly.

I don't follow the Phillies or Astros but have always laughed at the awful trades Wade has made; even the decisions. Case in point - Randy Wolf. What purpose does that serve?
Phillies fans, you can definitely vent. Other baseball fans agree with you

Hey Phillies fans, what now?
Daniel - looks like the Randy wolf trade coupled with the LaTroy Hawkins trade almost gave us enough for the wildcard.
PhilsPhan - Drayton McClane loves to win and Wade was commissioned to put a winning and competitive team on the field so he did what he could.
Mike - Brad Lidge was done in Houston. CLASSIC change of scenery case. Another thing, look where the Astros finished. It doesn't matter where they are July 24th. Its October 1st (which is over 2 months after that date) that matters.
Everyone else against Wade - How many players of the 2008 World Series Champion Phillies team were Ed Wade aquired by Ed Wade? Hmmmm?
