The CC Sabathia trade is complete, but there's still some good info floating about.

It feels weird to say this, but I'm glad Omar passed on Sabathia. We need a bat and a bullpen arm more than a starting pitcher right now.
I sure hope Church is OK....

I think most Tribe fans assumed Kemp would've been a necessary part in any Dodgers deal.
And the Yanks would have had to give up Hughes.... I honestly don't think he will be in New York next year, unless they give him a deal with like 6 years.

The Dodgers need to get rid of Colletti ASAP.

Stellar I am with you. I wouldn't mind losing CC at the end of the year but I would hate losing Martinez. People don't seem to be as high on him because the gaudy numbers aren't there, but to me the fact that he has been at AA since 18 is somethin in itself. Most toolsy guys don't but up the big numbers in the minors because they are still trying to put everything together, and once they click it doesn't really matter what level they are at. Shame about Church though, huh? Everybody hated the deal and it turns out to be in the Mets favor and then Church gets some freak concussion. Sounds like something that would happen to the Mets. I actually wouldn't mind seeing what Fernando could do with a cup of coffee if Alou and Church don't get back soon. He is about the same age as Reyes when Reyes got the call. And Reyes wasn't lighting the world on fire in the minors either. Just the fact that there were some guys that Shapiro liked deep in our system is encouraging to me though.

Lowercase Z,
Nah man, I think a deal could have gotten done without Kemp ~ LaRoche/McDonald/maybe Hu and someone else with some upside... would have most likely been tempting…
Not sure whats up with their saying Blake needed to be included though, makes you wonder what they were talking about for him to be in there.

Well, lets just say that the "scouting" I did on LaRoche and Hu through MLB.TV wasn't exactly impressive. LaRoche seems to be an Andy Marte clone, only better (because who is worse than Marte, right???) Hu was far from impressive as well. He will need to go a long way if they expect him to take over for Furcal next year.
If I hear a team say they are willing to trade a guy like Matt Kemp, for anyone, then that is my target.
Shapiro said some offers were close and only one offer had a player with the talent that LaPorta had... I would think he was referring to Kemp.

i'm really counting my blessings every time a trade involving Jed Lowrie falls through. i'm counting on him to take Lugo out of the starting lineup next season.
