« Stark's Latest: Dunn, Tankersley, Sherrill | Main | Nady, Marte Traded To Yankees »
According to Ed Price of the Newark Star-Ledger, the Yankees have been scouting outfielder Randy Winn. Winn, 34, is hitting .277/.345/.390 in 401 plate appearances. He's set to earn $8.25MM next year, and can block deals to ten clubs. You have to think the Yankees are treating this like another salary dump possibility.

maybe the giants can throw in taschner and get something for them... a b/b- level hitting prospect maybe? hopefully a 3b or at least someone with a little pop

Yeah, lets put Winn in with the other 20 outfielders we have.
It wouldn't be a bad move though. Put Winn in left, and i guess Damon will DH. Unless Melky is gone.
LF- Damon
CF- Winn
DH/1B- Sexon/Giambi

The Giants have to keep some older guys around to teach the young ones the right way to play. I'd keep Bengie and Aaron; and let Winn go, though I think he's a gamer.

Winn goes, Nate comes up! Sounds good to me...
P.S. What gives with the full page advertisement taking over my screen? :(

Good stuff from Peter Abraham:
* Phil Hughes will throw two innings in the GCL on Monday. He will soon be activated off the DL and optioned. Cashman would not predict whether Hughes would return to the majors. Cash said that teams are clamoring for Hughes in trade talks but he will not deal him.
* Carl Pavano is scheduled to start a GCL game on Tuesday.
* Ross Ohlendorf has pitched so well as a starter for Scranton that he is being considered as a starter again.
* Cashman is not optimistic about making a trade. “But it only takes one call.” He drove up to Boston today and was on the phone the entire time.
* On the subject of Barry Bonds, Cashman would not rule it out because he never rules anything about. But he said he has not spoken to Jeff Borris, Bonds’ agent. So it’s not happening and never was.
* Brian Bruney needs more work on his velocity and command before they bring him back.

Do we really need an "update" every single day that every single player is apparently about to get traded to the Yankees?
Basically, every single player in MLB is going to the Yankees. Got it. Not let's move on, actually find some legitimate rumors, and report them.
You guys waste so much time regurgitating Yankees bla bla while all these other teams are executing trades before you've even shed an ounce of rumor-light on them. What's that say about you guys?

Good info PhilFran....thanx!
As for Wynn....C'MON CASHMAN. Do you wanna win this year or not (no pun intended) Stop shopping at Target and offer just a FEW real prospects so we can get a keeper back!!
Keep Hughes, Jackson, Melancon, Brackman, Sanchez, Montero and Betances. Others like Kennedy, Melky, Christian, Horne, Cox, Whelan, Romine, etc...offer um' up and lets aggresively go after a guy like Holiday....or maybe put together something with the Dodgers for a kid like Kemp.
Enough with freakin Washburn, Sexson, Vidro, Arroyo, Wynn, etc!!

I don't understand why the Yankees still have Austin Jackson in Double-A.
He's batting 298. AVG 9 HRS 57 RBI and 15 SB.
Those are great number compared to the players they have in Triple-A.
And I'm pretty sure he would be a better player in the majors than Brett Gardner and Justin Christian.
