How could the Padres justify such a move? Passing on the San Diego State pitching phenom because of dollars? That's certainly the mark of a winning organization...

I will always remember Terry Tiffee for costing Francisco Liriano a shutout by dropping a ball while playing first in the bottom of the ninth in 2006.

I think the most surprising part of the Griffin interview was that he didn't ask the two most pressing questions about Ricciardi...
1) Does he even like baseball?
2) Does he have a passion for the game?

I imagine there would be riots on the streets of 2 cities if San Diego and Washington end up with the top 2 picks next year and both pass on Strasburg because of money. Normally I wouldn't think Washington would pass, but after the Crow thing (and having to pay another top 10 pick in 2009), you never know.
Assuming he stays healthy, Strasburg will probably get a deal close to what Teixeira got, which is the highest ever.

Agree with Meo
If Strasburg is avaliable and the Padres pass on him, even for another top 3 pick, the fan base will absolutely lose its minds and be incredibly pissed off.
Strasburg becomes a Padre next year or the fans will riot

Remember there are still three teams in the mix for the #1 spot and I think despite the signability questions he goes to the team that picks 1. The Mariners, Padres, or Nationals.

A lot of potential "AAAA" players really need a low pressure situation with lots of ABs to succeed. Playing for KC makes sense here, as does a regular stint at AAA in a higher quality league (one with a lot of pitching). Tiffee and Luis Maza are good examples who have played in both the Twins and Dodger organizations. Both buried under better players and successful in the minors.
Brandon Webb could end up being one of these guys if the Angels don't trade him.

Oops I forgot that Brandon Webb has been pitching Angels minor leagues during his freetime when he's not an ace on AZ. lol. I take it you meen Brandon Wood or Nick Adenhart?

Ah, that's funny. I meant Brandon Wood.
As for Adenhart, he needs to be a AAA player before he is a AAAA player. His command is just terrible at this point.

Did anyone read the River Ave article? That actually has to be one of the most pathetic, whiny, blind analysis I've ever read... and I often read bostondirtdogs editorials.

Good bye Beltran, and don't come back.
