« Bonser Not Discussed In Washburn Talks | Main | Dodgers Win Claim On Ron Belliard? »
Just to hammer the point home, Barry Bonds' agent Jeff Borris told Ken Rosenthal today that Rays GM Andrew Friedman failed to respond to his text message. The Rays would like to add a hitter, but they've never had serious interest in Bonds. Borris believes his client has been "blackballed" by MLB.
Rosenthal says the Rays would only consider Gary Sheffield if the Tigers picked up the majority of his contract, understandably. They're not interested in Kenny Lofton or Jose Vidro.

If the Rays would consider Sheffield at little or no cost, why wouldn't they sign Bonds? Especially if the reports of playing at the league minimum are true?
But Bonds was part of the steroid controversy...
So was Sheffield.
Bonds would disrupt the clubhouse...
Sheffield has never been considered a great teammate.
Bonds can't play defense any more...
Sheffield has a career fielding percent of .961 in left and he has spent all but 6 games this season as the DH.
Bonds on the other hand, fielded .976 last year.
Bonds hasn't faced live pitching in a while...
You mean to tell me that Sheffield's .220/.322/.387 line would be better than Bonds whose OBP was .480 last year? He OPS'd 1.045!
Sign Bonds!
