« Rockies Intensify Search For Fifth Starter | Main | Rosenthal's Latest: Washburn, Teixeira, Griffey »
The Red Sox offered a minor league contract to reliever Joe Borowski, who was released by the Indians about a month ago. He's not the setup man acquisition fans hoped for, but there's no risk in adding him.
Borowski, 37, posted a 7.56 ERA in 16.2 innings this year. He injured his triceps in a spring game, and that lingered into May. The Indians had picked up his $4MM option in November of '07.

I like this signing for the sox. Borowski has had success in the past, maybe he just needed another change in scenery, that usually helps him. He usually has one or two good years with a team then bombs, then goes somewhere else and pitches well.

I don't think there's much recovering that'll get done with this change of scenery for JoeBlow. I like this signing but for every team he pitches against (if he gets a call up), not the sox.

With a little work, Borowski has the chance to be this year's Eric Gagne for the Sox.

lets see the sox sign garcia and it will be a hat trick of pitchers her once were...
Its a minor leauge deal and the sox like takin these kind of risks...worse case scenerio...he sucks, best case is he starts pitchin like that guy on the cubs some people gave a hoot about.
I jus hope this isn't the only bullpen move they make this aug.

The only way you can compare JOEBLOW to GAG ME is if they have rebuilt him since he left the Indians and non is the NEW 6 MILLION DOLLAR MAN
this is too funny even healthy the guy can't throw the ball through a wet paper bag.
Who wants a junk ball pitcher to pitch the 7th 8th or 9th.
Think about it THE CLEVELAND INDIANS cut this guy. ROTF.
