« Boston Says Okie-Dokie To Okajima in 2009 | Main | Tigers Could Deal Ordonez? »
Royals manager Trey Hillman told MLB.com that when it comes to improving the team for next year, he won't be looking for much help from the farm system:
Hillman said Kansas City doesn't "have a plethora of talent at our Triple-A level," so the Royals will "have to try to improve possibly in the free-agent market as much as we can and continue to evaluate what we have and go from there."
In his Royals' Offseason Outlook, Tim suggested that with the right additions, they could be a sleeper. What could those additions be?
Rany Jazayerli, in a very detailed post, is actually rather bullish on the much-maligned back of the rotation. Rather than make significant changes there, he'd like to see the Royals trade a good pitching prospect "to get a legitimate, long-term solution in centerfield or behind the plate."
And hiring a hitting coach who preaches patience wouldn't hurt, either.
Sarah Green writes for the Boston Metro and Umpbump.

I mentioned this before...wouldnt Owings be a great fit? He could pitch while trying out for DH.

More of the same with the royals! They seem to have a decent nucleus of players. But maybe moving dejesus and Meche might be a good idea. Dejesus has good value and a nice contract for a team like the Cubs for next year. You could get a couple decent prospects like Pie and Cedeno straight up. Or the Yankees might be interested in moving melky and Phil Coke. They need a new catcher and maybe moving Meche for Salty +an arm would work. It just seems like they bring up every player a year or two too soon. Hochevar needed another development year. Every signing they do seems to set them back further and further. But we all warned them about guillen.

viktor, I don't think MLB hitting is that easy... As good as Owings has been at the dish, he will need to concentrate on hitting extensively to be a useful DH.

Even though David DeJesus is a solid player, I think Royals need to move him this offseason. His value is good right now and there are a number of teams that need an outfielder.
Just off the top of my head, Giants could be a good team for the Royals to deal with if they are looking to get pitching in return, maybe for Jonathan Sanchez or Matt Cain, plus the Giants could use as much help on offense as possible. Maybe even Padres or Rays could be a good fit since both have pitchers and could use a productive bat.

To Joe Morgan,
As a ranger fan I hate to admit it, but to get Salty you would have to be talking about Grienke. Meche wouldn't get the conversation started especially Salty + an arm. Meche ain't worth that.
And even though Salts value has slipped it doesn't matter because he plays a premium position, has been broken in to the majors, and is only 22/23 years old.

To ilulic,
I cant see San Fran moving Sanchez or Cain for Dejesus. San Fran is looking for an impact bat and DeJesus isn't that. Im not saying he isn't good, but he isn't going to bring back Cain or Sanchez

Woul the Royals be intersetes in Jeff Francouer. He and Drayton Moore are sais to be close friends. Say JF plus Blaine Boyer for mark Teahan and Brian Bannister
