As a Brewers fan, all I can say is....damn.
Jack is probably the biggest reason the Brewers made the postseason this year. He has drafted nearly every starter for the Brewers as well as the prospects it took to get CC Sabathia.
He will certainly be missed. On the bright side, this certainly establishes a very good trade partner for the Brewers as long as Doug Melvin is the GM.

that really sucks for the brewers. after all the hard work he has put in though, he definitely should be given the opportunity. i guess the question becomes, how may brewers scouts does he take with him??? if he takes 3-4 scouts to lead his scouting dept. this could have a huge effect on the brewers organization.

The perfect hire for the M's, really a great move.

Maybe a trade of Bedard to the crew? He'd have to prove he's healthy but if he was the mariners might actually get some return for him. The brews would also get a much cheaper alternative to signing sabathia and when healthy I feel bedard is equal if not a little better then him. Beadard would also face a league with no DH which would just improve his numbers and maybe maddux can get him set straight.

Maybe get Prince!??

Prince would be great...but Bedard would be a one-year injury prone rental.... maybe two b-level prospects

I can guarantee you that there's no room in the Brewers' clubhouse for the egotistical cancer that is Erik Bedard. Not to mention, with injury issues, the Brewers would very likely be uninterested.
However, the Brewers would be interested in Adrian Beltre and Jack's in-depth knowledge of all levels of Brewers prospects could consider a move that lands him some A level prospects or even rookie leaguers.
Should be interesting to see. However, I am not looking forward to the next Brewers' draft.

That hurts when the Brew crew have about 20 first round/sandwich picks coming their way...

Great move by the Mariners. Not many guys have a better eye for young talent.
The Brewers are really going to miss him in the upcoming draft, as they're stacked with picks, but presumably a lot of the guys he's worked with have learned from his ways.

Seems like a good pick up for the Mariners from what I'm reading.
But one thing bugs me...How in the heck do you pronounce his name?

It's good to see all the passionate Mariners fans getting interested now that they have a new GM..........

Hopefully, the Mariners can upgrade on offense by adding a bat or two (LF and 1B) and prospects like Bryan LaHair, Jeff Clement and Wladimir Balentin develop, the Mariners should be good to go. Also, hopefully the Mariners can finally give LH Ryan Feirbrand a chance to finally crack the rotation on a full time basis, and not back and forth between AAA and the bigs. They need to dump Washburn and Batista.

I'd rather have had Tony LaCava, but then again no matter what, the next GM can't epic fail like Bavasi did.
GO Mariners!

Sounds like a good move by the M's, it's about time they do something right. If all the Brewer fans are correct then this guy just might know his stuff. Also, kinda nice to see talent leaving Milwaukee (I'm a Cub fan) ;)
Gotta say I was pulling for Kim Ng, that would have been a great story. At least this doesn't seem to be the same as when she interviewed for the Dodgers job and got passed over for a buffoon. She'll get a GM job eventually and I'd love to see how she does, hopefully well enough that other women start getting consideration as well. The more talent available to choose from the less likely that morons like Bavasi and Colletti get jobs.

I didn't want the Mariners to hire Ng because their logic would have been, "It's about damn time a woman got a job as a GM, and we, here in Seattle, wanted to give her that opportunity."
That is what would have been released to the public. I wanted the best person suited for the job to get it, and if it's Zduriencik, then sweet.
