« Rangers Offer Arb To Bradley | Main | Keep Track Of The Arb Offers »
According to the AP, Orlando Cabrera (Type A) and David Weathers (Type B) were offered arbitration.
We await word on Type A/B free agents Mark Loretta, Randy Wolf, Doug Brocail, Juan Uribe, and Ken Griffey Jr., though the AP article implies none of the five received offers. Wolf would've been solid on a one-year deal; the Astros' payroll must be really tight.

I believe Brocail is a Type A free agent.

Rotoworld says neither Juan or Griffey were offered arbitration as expected.

Rotoworld says the Astros didnt offer any of them arbitration and the Sox didnt offer it to Griffey.

Alright. It is official. Ed Wade and DRAYTON McLANE are complete idiots. None of those players would have excepted any arb offers. So they gave away 4 draft picks.

Kenny Dewitt- I understand Brocail and Loretta. Brocail is 40+ years old and in a deep reliever market. Loretta accepted arbitration last season, and is a risk to accept again.
Wolf makes no sense however.

Loretta made less than $3 million last season. He is more than capable of playing third base EVERY DAY. That would allow the Astros to trade Wiggington for a couple of good prospects or even some cheap pitching.

Im not sure how many of you watch Astros games and all that but Loretta is NOT capable of playing a position everyday anymore. He just isn't straight up. I like the guy but he can't play everyday. He is an awesome bench/role player and positive person in the clubhouse and to mentor young guys. thats why he only needs to make 2 million a year.

Does this solidify that even though money bags Drayton says keep payroll at 100M that Wade is confident in Wolf signing? I could see us backloading his contract on like a 2 year deal but Berk, Roy O and Lee all have super loaded back end contracts so don't think that would work..maybe he just walks................
