« Only Oliver, Weathers Accept Arb Offers | Main | Tigers Acquire Gerald Laird »
We can add a new name to the Joe Beimel sweepstakes: the Diamondbacks. Jack Magruder of the East Valley Tribune says they've had talks with his agent. Of course, Josh Byrnes is eyeing all kinds of free agent relievers now that Brandon Lyon declined arbitration.
The Tigers are another team known to be in on Beimel.

How can the D'Backs afford him? They had to lay off a lot of employees and couldn't offer Randy Johnson more than $3 million...

metzfan22 that is were you are wrong. sure they laid off some employees, but they have upwards of 13 million to spend now that Lyon declined arb. However they couldnt afford to offer Randy Johnson a contract because they need to sign a second baseman, a left handed bat, and some bullpen help. If they are able to trade Miguel Montero, chad tracy, or Eric Byrnes then chances are they will be able to bring back RJ.
