Oswalt and Barrett? Looks like Barrett is getting beat down again.

Well Oswalt doesn't like Barrett too much, and Barrett doesn't like Oswalt either.... If the Astros want to keep the club house chemistry good they shouldn't get Barrett LOL

Surprised theres no interest from the Red Sox at all.

I hope houston stays away from barrett. They should look towards a Zaun like player for a cheap one year deal to split time with Quintero while Towles and Castro gain more experience in the minors.

I don't blame the Astros for downplaying it, I wouldn't admit to talking with Barrett either. He is not a good catcher, end of story. Hell of a right hook, however, just ask AJ.

If Barrett was a decent defensive catcher, he'd have no problem finding work.
Barrett makes a lot of sense as a corner IF-2nd/3rd catcher option. If the Red Sox opt to solve the catcher vacancy from within (Kottaras/Brown), having Barrett's bat around to pinch hit late, getting an occasional start at catcher and to rest Youkilis & Lowell at the corners would be a fit. I would not want to see him exposed defensively by starting at catcher regularly but being able to put his bat in the lineup at catcher when someone else is getting rested sounds ideal.
