Darn. I really had hoped the Cubs would just let this guy go. The more I think about Bradley, the more I like that idea. Ibanez will require a bigger contract and a draft pick, one that the Cubs really need frankly.

The Cubs are one of three teams seperated from the others in the mix. They have to keep options open. Keeping that pick is important.

Adunrcaroo, I agree with you. The moer I consider Bradley, the more I like it. I bet that Lou would rather have Ibanez because he knows him and doesn't want the possible trouble that Bradley might bring. Lou is getting older, ya know.

I really hope the Mets do NOT end up signing him.

I know Lou likes Ibanez but I'll take Bradley and his injury risk anyday.

Please, Omar, pass on Ibanez. How many late-30's veterans have to crash and burn before you learn your lesson?

Ibanez is a pretty quality hitter, gives you professional AB's, but cman Omar, seriously. A 3 year deal and give up picks for this guy??
Maybe some other LF could be had that might be more beneficial...

In the back of my mind when he declined arbitration, I thought Ibanez would become a Met.
Let's see what Omar thinks.

Mets: So, Ibanez, how do you feel about becoming right handed?
Ibanez: ...

Why would the Nationals be in on Ibanez????

I agree, With the Mets having to spend roughly around 40 million this year, and now take away 12 with K-Rod, I think it would be a waste to sign Raul, a 36 year old outfield for 30 million for 3 years, you've seen what happened with Alou and now Castillo. I would say Trade Feliciano/Evans for Street, since Rockies want a left handed set up, then try and work-up a trade with the Rays with Heilman/Carp/ maybe even Parnell or Kunz for Andy Sonnanstine. Then I would try to unload Castillo, for anything and paying like 2 million of his 6 million owed. The mets then still need a 2b, SP and LF, 2b- Orlando Hudson 24 million for 3 years, and SP i would go hard after sheets, for 13 million. With that costing around 33 million, LF you could go short and try to get someone around 8 million like Rocco Baldelli or Jerry Hairston Jr. or Omar having the new citi field could land another big fish with manny ramirez. I know his a hassle and kinda hold but can still hit.
Lineup
Reyes-SS
Beltran-CF
Wright-3b
Ramirez-LF
Delgado-1b
Hudson-2b

Schneider/Castro-C
Rotation

Sheets
Pelfrey
Maine
Sonnanstine

The Amazings, you are a hard core dreamer

Ruben Amaro must not like draft picks very much. First he doesn't offer arb to Burrell or Moyer (still can't figure those out), and now he wants to give up a pick to get another LH bat. Nice.
At least our farm system is loaded. Oh wait...

The Amazings, I agree with mike lee, you are a hard core dreamer. The owner of the Mets wants to cut payroll, not expand it exponentially.

In response to The Amazings post. That lineup and rotation looks good enough to finish 2nd in the NL behind this:
Roberts
Lee
Soriano
Ramirez
Bradley
Soto
Fukudome
Theriot
Peavy
Zambrano
Lilly
Dempster
Harden
Marmol
Gregg
Samardzija
Sherrill
Gaudin
Cotts
Anybody think Marshall/Vitters would net Roberts/Sherrill?
