I hope Everett gets a starting job with a good team like Detroit. I think he's great - he's the old fashioned type SS: great glove, but almost no plate presence. He's got awesome range, and makes spectacular plays...of course, this is all assuming he can stay healthy. From what I saw last year, the Tigers could sure use some D. It doesn't matter how many sluggers you have in your line-up, someone's got to stop the dang ball once in a while.
What'd be really ironic, is if the Astros (who are looking for a defensive minded back-up to Tejada) signed him. As much as I'd love to see him back in an Astros uniform, I'd hate to see him as a bench player.

your correct. the tigers defense is horrible...RentaWreck and Carlos Guillen are horrible defensive short stops. im all for Everett signing with detroit (id perfer wilson though). he would be a good defesive upgrade over the crap we've thrown out there the last few seasons.
combine him with Inge...youll get AMAZING defense from the right side of the infield...but you'll get sub 220 averages from both.

My money is Laird being traded to Cincinnati for Homer Bailey

Im with you, I like wilson more but I dont see the point in giving up prospects to get a 1 year rental player given the state of our farm system.
what kind of contract do you think garcia will be seeking? i assume 1 year but for how much?

Why are the Tigers so high on Garcia? He won't do any better than some of their in house options. Also, there would be no room for him. Because the Tigers are stuck with Robertson and Willis, the rotation will look like this:
RHP Armando Galaragga
RHP Justin Verlander
RHP Jeremy Bonderman
LHP Nate Robertson
LHP Dontrelle Willis
They also have Zach Miner who gave them some decent starts last season. He could be a good pick up for Texas in a Laird trade.

Everett would be a nice match for the Tigers, they can hide him behind the rest of their good lineup, so he won't really need to hit much.
I was also thinking about the Pirates trading Wilson to the Tigers then Pittsburgh signing Everett for a year.

"I was also thinking about the Pirates trading Wilson to the Tigers then Pittsburgh signing Everett for a year."
Agreed. You'd have to believe Everett would help that pitch-to-contact rotation with his spectacular range and athleticism.

Little known fact: armando galarraga is the younger cousin of the big cat.
